I really like this story but one thing I don't get is why would he have to pilot it manually? Like for what reason would it still need to be piloted? Couldn't they have just all gone and left it floating in space or something? Other than that it's good )

What a great filler and I LOVED the emotion McCoy exudes. He, Jim and Spock are just great, diverse personalities to bounce off and you write their different dynamics perfectly.

It is what Jim Kirk would do too - Captain goes down with the ship.

Wow. Just...wow. You totally had me from the start. I thought Jim was a gonner and the sadness that pervaded the entire story was almost overwhelming. Even knowing he was alive was not really enough to dispell the anxiety completely. Great job!
