Reviews for Main Healer
kurakosho chapter 1 . 8/24/2014
Dedicated to every raid main healer out there.
Thank you. I do really tend to get paranoid whenever my party is always running about.
"I can fight, but I have to stay behind to watch for their health. I can heal you, wait-come here before you-" and poof there they gone. It's so frustrating, when their health drop so low but I'm out of reach. I don't want to get blamed (why didn't you heal me?), but when I move rashly, I'll die instead, burdening the whole party, Ah, I just don't know what to do sometimes, it truly is a whole different feeling, being the main healer of an online action RPG where everyone just scrambles about defeating the dragon. I get you Yukiko. Yep.
Sorry for rambling, haha.

I wonder why am I attracted to your genre of story. It's like something that you can emphatize with, whether this story or Downshift, even though the reader circumstances is not the same with the character, but I feel like I can visualize the character and feel those emotions, and I guess that's what I like about your stories. :D

Thanks for the story!

This was very well-written. Though there wasn't much setting, for me, it captures how Yukiko is so lost in thought about her inability to be there in battle for her friends. Very nice.

I have to say, I love my healers, and Yukiko is no exception. I love that she excels in healing and offensive magic, and I love that you brought out the effects of her responsibility to use both. You showed just how taxing it is to be the main healer, where you always have to be alert and mindful of your teammates' health-it's so much easier to be the one who just charges in recklessly while someone's watching with a healing spell at the ready.

You also some good details that could happen while inside the TV. Ripped, torn or singed clothing that could signify that they were doing something other than visiting the local department store and how to cover it up. They really should have battle clothes...

One line that really got my attention was, "It is the first time in her life that she hates the color red." I don't know, it just really had such an impact on me. I liked it, and I also felt bad for Yukiko since she's always got at least something red that she's wearing. There's no escaping that color for her.

It's kind of sad that most of her teammates don't understand how difficult her role is. Like Chie, who almost died at the beginning-they just hop back into the TV and already she's itching to fight. She (and I'm sure some others) don't realize how dangerous it is to be without a healer and almost takes her best friend for granted. Strange, since she had been in battle without a healer in the beginning when they had to rescue Yukiko from her castle, but I guess after having a healer like her for so long, that fear diminished.

I really started to feel for Yukiko where even the smallest of injuries in the real world get her on edge. Especially since she's much more vulnerable and unable to smash a card and heal everything, it must've really stabbed at her.

I was glad to see that she at least had Souji who understood her plight. As a leader and sometimes fellow-healer, of course he'll understand what it's like to be mindful of everyone's actions. With the responsibility of directing his friends, their lives are basically in both his and Yukiko's hands. It's tough, but at least they have each other to connect to.

I found it sweet that Yukiko "adopted" the mildly broken kotatsu. I know, the kotatsu is like Amaterasu where it can be delayed a click or two...or five... But it was nice. I really liked it.

I really enjoyed this. You're pretty good dealing with the psychological aspect of characters. I'm glad I stumbled upon this and I'll definitely be seeing healers with much more respect. Thank you for writing this!

that was pretty good, i actually like these analysis type things, where you just pick someone and essentially a 'from their pov' about something you always wonder about... i think you gave Yukiko-chan a lot of depth with this, i can tell there was real effort and thought put in...

i like it .

till next *Salute-waves* Sayounara!

Insomniac Owl chapter 1 . 1/26/2011
I don't know Persona very well because I've never played it, but what I really don't know is why this doesn't have more reviews. The beginning is solid; the ending is a little trite, but the rest of it is beautiful. I especially like the scene at the inn, where she reacts to the cook cutting her thumb - and that sense she gets that it's actually the world outside the tv that isn't responding correctly.

Thank you for writing this. Really.

This is excellent work! You've really captured Yukiko well here, and her worry for the other characters. Truly brilliant.
