Reviews for A Day in the
The Half-Blood Nerd chapter 1 . 9/4/2012
This is really good! Love the lay out and the idea of death's 'average day' (if you can call a day for death avarage) :)
Dante On Fire chapter 1 . 6/5/2012
Very good. You kept Death in character nicely, and I loved the idea of Oleo, the god of Cholesterol.
Purple Ghost Sausage chapter 1 . 9/25/2011
Wonderful writing! I love your footnotes. Especially the third one.
BenRG chapter 1 . 2/1/2011
I'm not sure why I like this story so much. It doesn't really have a plot, per se. In so many ways nothing actually /happens/. Yet, despite these things, that would be fatal failings in another story, it stands tall.

I think it is because it shows a great deal of understanding of one of the most enigmatic and debated characters in the Discworld universe (probably only Patrician Vetinari can be more puzzling). In this story, you achieve your goal - to show what existance is like for Death. You show that strange honour and compassion that should be absent from such a thing but instead is a key aspect of its personality. You show that, on a very strange level, Death is lonely and genuinely mourns each and every life that he touches, good and evil alike.

You may have guessed - I like this one a lot!
NikkyPickles chapter 1 . 1/30/2011
Footnotes! You used footnotes! Truly you must be channelling some of Sir Pterry's muse!

This was at once funny and moving and well-written. Are you SURE you're not Sir Pterry in disguise?

What a fabulous piece of writing, I salute you!
focket chapter 1 . 1/30/2011
Absolutely beautiful. I think it quite sums up Discworld's Death and reminds me at once of my favorite quote about him- the one about crops and the care of the Reaper Man... And the footnotes, of course! How can there be a discworld fic without footnotes! 3
Shathar chapter 1 . 1/28/2011
This was hauntingly sad.

Also laugh-out-loud funny.

Good job.
Fiona chapter 1 . 1/28/2011
I've only read the first paragraph and already I'm hooked. Your descriptions are eerily similar to Terry Pratchett's. I doubt he would have described death any differently
starsandstillness chapter 1 . 1/27/2011
I though this was very well written and very true to the characters. It's somehow not quite as hopeful as Pratchett, but that might be because the hope usually comes from other characters, not from Death. Good job.
Kimberly T chapter 1 . 1/27/2011
Yayyy, Discworld! I love the series, but almost never check out the fanfics for some reason.

This story was both amusing and touching in its fantastic mundanity. And of course, its footnotes.

"Albert is in the kitchen, wiping a cloth over the grease-encrusted frying pan to give the fat new parts of the pan to see."

If I didn't know better, I'd swear this one had been written by Pterry himself.

? This Sarah the match girl; an import from the original Hans Christian Anderson story, or an established character from the Discworld books that I somehow missed?
