I like the way you're building this story - all of the characterizations are solid & familiar, but with a sense that we're covering new ground. Very nice!

I really like how you set this up - awaiting Chapter 3. Poor Ryan - glad that everyone can give him his space; but doesn't Esposito also have some difficulties with what he went through? Not sure as to what the time line is, a week after the Knockout events, two weeks? If it is more recent, maybe you could toss in the damage to Castle's hand, just for some added color. Just a suggestion. I like the idea of Kate needing the cash for some reason (anything related to Doctor Motorcycle Boy?).

You know who needs to have answers? Me. Such suspense! I hope you can update this soon! This was another great chapter. I just really want to know what she needs the money for! Which I realize is the point. And it is her father's watch, so that question that I asked earlier, although I probably should've been able to figure it out, was answered. So that's good. I loved the bits about Ryan. I love him a lot, and it makes sense that he'd be affected by the whole being tortured thing. And I loved our favorite detectives looking out for each other, as always. Fabulous. Great job.

I love this. There's something about your writing, the brevity of your sentences, paragraphs, and even this chapter, that pulls me in. It does something that you accurately said Beckett likes to do and that I do NOT do in my writing (appropriately, apparently even in this review...): gets right to the point. I'm glad you decided to write for Castle, because you have a really good handle on the characters. Yeah, this obviously IS out of character for Beckett (what's she need the money for? I'm intrigued!) and it's just like Castle to immediately buy it back. Is this her dad's watch? I literally just put that together, for some reason. But in that case, he's already saved it for her once, so there's something interesting about him saving it again. Anyway. I'm intereested to read the next chapter. And I can! Which is awesome. So I will.
