Hey! I was just reading the secret garden again and came across the part where Mary come running back to tell Dickon she could have a bit of earth and when she gets there he is gone. "He's gone," she said woefully. "Oh! Was he- was he- was he only a wood fairy?" Something white fastened to the standard rose-bush caught her eye. It was a piece of paper, in fact, it was a piece of the letter she had printed for Martha to send to Dickon. It was fastened on the bush with a long thorn, and in a minute she knew Dickon had left it there. There were some roughly printed letters on it and a sort of picture. At first she could not tell what it was. Then she saw it was meant for a nest with a bird sitting on it. Underneath were printed the letters and they said: "I will cum bak."
That gave me chills when I read it and thought about your story. Then later Mary realizes Dickon had meant the picture to be a message as well. He had meant that she might be sure he would keep her secret. Her garden was her nest and she was like a missel thrush. 'Oh, how she did like that queer common boy!'
So I had to send you that if only to inspire you to write more for me to read! Thanks!

Awesome, love how you ended it! Mary was a little more crude than I have imagined her but then again she IS without her true love. Thus, a change in certain areas is to be expected. Can't wait to find out what happens!

I've love the book ever since I was ten, and it's been only these past months, after I finished reading it again, that it occurred to me, both the time period and what was sure to happen. Please, please, PLEASE don't kill Dickon. You've done an amazing, thrilling, glorious job, and I couldn't bear it if Dickon died.

I've always thought Mary belonged with Dickon, he's my first fictional crush. I like EVERYTHING you've done so far, I think it's interesting that you haven't had Mary spend too much time in the Garden since Dicken left. Will she find a Rose painted on the garden wall revealed when the rosebushes have all dried up for winter? Please don't write that he tattooed one on him, yuck!

first of all, i don't know how this has been up for so long and i haven't seen it. secondly, your disclaimer made me giggle. thirdly, i just love the Martha that you created in this story. she is very similar to that Martha that we all know and love, but she is definitely older and wiser as well. i like the fact that without writing years worth of fanfictions, you have managed to make the characters feel older. you know what i mean? ugh just keep it coming, this whole thing is too good for me to handle.

I think that Dickon should return to Mistle thwaite Manor. His hair should of grown back, but curlier, with more life, with the fake rose (the one that can never die, like his love for Mary) in his hand. Mary will be with Colin, who keeps trying to propose to her, but she constantly rejects him. He proposes, to her in front of Dickon, but upon seeing Dickon, she runs to him and kisses him, proving her love for him In front of Colin. After a while, They get married in Mary's garden, a beautiful garden, before settling down in a cute cottage on the moors. Colin can get with Mr. Dawn's sister. (is that alright?)
