I gotta say, I found this oneshot short and sweet, my neutrality to the pairing in question notwithstanding (I'm more of a SetsuNena / SetsuRina supporter myself, but I generally don't hate on pairings unless they're yaoi/crack).

One last question, though - am I to assume that this was your take on a certain scene towards the end of Season 2?

Interesting to see a day of love surrounded by fighting. This Setsuna character seems quite taken back by kindness, he comes across as a damaged soul. This was a nice peice of writing even though I have no idea about this fandom. The plot was easily followed so well done. A sweet fic.
