Omg love this so much I can't even explain!

I am enjoying this story but I feel badly for Bella, as in his speech to the board she wasn't mentioned at all. He talks about his regret for his family relationships and how he hurt Jane and that his daughter was the most important thing to him and all about his accomplishments and the support his family (implying parents and siblings etc.) will be to him and how he would repair his relationship with them but I don't feel that this includes Bella, as he was obviously talking about his immediate family not the supposed love of his life, I thought that she would be touched on with his reasons for living and not screwing up... as a second to his daughter but supposedly he was doing all of this work to benefit his and Bella's relationship - if only in a small way, but to a greater extent than his relationship with his parents, who he did mention a few times.

I also feel unsatisfied with the talk that supposedly provided closure regarding his cheating, when Bella wanted details etc. What he said was fine as a start (or actually as the ending closure aspect) but as it stands it seems like excuses and like it made him the victim of his own actions, as he talked about him trying to hurt and punish himself with someone he didn't care about and how it was all about punishing himself. But it seems very hypocritical and self-centered to play it off as though Bella really shouldn't bother herself about it and that he was the one harmed by it. As if he wasn't experiencing pleasure from it, getting turned on by someone else, allowing himself to be physically attracted to them and acting out on it, as if he didn't get any physical pleasure from the act, not to mention that he obviously thought about it and sought her out. Again, his feelings about the deeper analysis of it is certainly fair but it really doesn't address everything - Bella's initial feelings or the betrayal due to the physical acts and pleasure he experienced with another woman. It seems to be trying to invalidate Bella's feelings of betrayal, as if she still had a problem with it, she wasn't thinking of the big picture - how he was only harming and punishing himself. As if he wasn't getting anything out of it in the moment... as if he was so self-sacrificing to allow another woman to give him multiple orgasms. Not to mention the harm it did to Bella emotionally by allowing others to ridicule her and the fact that it gave Lauren power over Bella, as if she doesn't satisfy her own boyfriend and the he went to her for pleasure. He doesn't acknowledge any of the harm it has done to Bella. He acknowledges that his actions were wrong but seems to justify them by saying that they were coming from a place of self-harm, so that is proof that he won't do it again... I guess I am feeling a bit indignant on Bella's behalf, which means that you are a great writer, invoking such feelings in your readers!
