Oh. My. Gosh. I'm out of mind to implode, but WOAH AWESOME. The little bit in italics makes the whole thing. It's Doctor Who and Sherlock. All is right with the world. PS- High five on the use of the term clergyman. Can I glomp you over the internet?

Oh so cute! I love the idea of the Doctor fanboying over Sherlock, it's absolutely adorable and I can easily picture him acting like that. Sherlock's reaction is also quite well handled, his utter confusion but at the same time his acceptance of this strange man suddenly appearing. The characterization of the two characters is very well done, you've captured them quite well. And as for Sherlock's landlord, well I can picture a fed-up landlord very, very easily.

More of these crossovers need to exist. Especially because it's the modern day adaption Sherlock Holmes. I especially appreciated the use of the brackets towards the end when Sherlock is baffled to articulate exactly what spastic, explicable sounds the Doctor makes when he's in the middle of an outburst. Because brackets are oh so very formal and logical and stiff and proper, yet the Doctor defies logic, and so Sherlock's brain has to brake sharply, stop short, and go kaput momentarily as he tries to bend his head around the mannerisms of the Doctor and try and adapt and adjust to his strange, shady presence.

It's Sherlock's way of dealing with a jigsaw puzzle where some pieces are peculiarly shaped and wholly inappropriate for the greater whole, so he puts those pieces aside and goes, "WILL NOT TOUCH NOW." I love how he doesn't even bat an eye during the conversation or even at the Doctor; he just rolls with it. My only dissatisfaction with the piece is that it feels incomplete because there's potential ungrasped and loose ends that dangle awkwardly demanding more development. It feels like Sherlock's reaction here just isn't enough from their initial meeting (so he comes off understated...subdued?) because his reaction towards the Doctor would be a gradual process stretched teasingly out for days on end, going through stages and whatnot. But because the fic ends abrupt we don't get to see the rest of his mental processes go at it.

It's also gratifying that the Doctor immediately is off the bat fanboy crazy about Sherlock, as the latter is merely human (yet a genius!), but it seems unwarranted since the Doctor comes out of nowhere. Than again that's what he does. Plus first season of Sherlock is pitifully short, so who knows what's in that speculative future timeline of canon that would spur on the Doctor to be so impressed.

I don't understand the bottle reference at the end (but than again I wonder if that is purposeful since Sherlock's in the same boat, seeing as how the 10th Doctor loves to ramble incessantly on about past/future bits that seem to have little to no relevance to the present). I also wish I understood the very end. It has everything to do with Watson, but beyond that the subtext is lost on me...I am very sad. Maybe I haven't watched enough Sherlock?
