Reviews for Une Chanson Pour La Dame Perséphone
Lavie chapter 1 . 12/21/2014
I've been reading this for three years now. It's still my personal favourite, a coping mechanism of sorts. It brought tears to my eyes again and again. It's still a masterpiece to me.

I cannot believe I haven't reviewed this yet. It's chockfull of those more worldly references that mostly go over my head, and the writing is fantastic and gorgeous in the most terrible and world-shaking ways. There's beauty in this, and I really, really, adore it.

This was just beautifully written. The atmosphere was amazing-it was nostalgic and dreamy. I don't really care of femslash, but this is just too awesome.
Lacie Dive chapter 1 . 8/16/2011
I cried.

I cried so bloody hard reading this.

Reading this made me remember all those days when I used to have a mother before she was gone, and M.M.-God, how you wrote out her past and placed each and every detail made me feel like I was drowning. Like someone forcing me to inhale lungfuls of iced water as I was reading this. It's so believable, I felt like someone tore out my throat as I sobbed.

My heart goes to you.

This is a gem. This is a gem. This is a gem.

On its own.

I am completely in love with this story. Not only did the end make me cry my eyes out, but you touched different subjects I am really familiar with — such as music, love between women and France (because yes, classical music is my heart and soul, yes, I like girls and yes, I'm French, and btw sorry for the bad English).

I won't lie : I hate Chrome with a passion and MM is not really high in my heart either. But hating them in the anime/manga doesn't mean I can't like them in a fanwork and hell, did I love them here. The way you describe their relationship is truly amazing. Your style in general is simply breathtaking. The little sentences and words in French all over the text don't break its rythme like what I saw in several other fanfics, on the contrary they give it a rich touch, something mysterious and beautiful at the same time.

This fanfic is like an expansive chocolate. It's a dark and sinful pleasure which leaves a bitter aftertaste and makes you want to have more. I really thank you for writing something so perfect.
ZiYu chapter 1 . 6/3/2011
I love this fic. Absolutely adore it. I love the way you handle and write about Mukuro's entire gang, the complex interrelations beneath the outer skin of "WE ARE LOYAL SLAVES OF MUKURO DURR HURR."

Ahem.

The whole story, it flows with the canon so well-/leaps/ from it. The content is all original, but so real, it could be seen happening just like that. It's breathtaking. Convincing.

M.M.'s background is so well thought-out, so detailed, so /her/ that it blinds me with its perfection. I can't tell you how much appreciation I have for this piece as I read about her playing clarinet as a child or her poor abused mother or her one-bedroom home in a seedy Jewish sector of France or just...everything, really.

I also love the way you wrote M.M. and Chrome. You've really brought out all the dynamics of this relationship. The mutual love they have (requited- unrequited- requited?); Mukuro- his vague yet definite omnipresence (like a dark dark shadow); a beatiful Love that spirals into disaster.

And when I saw this:

"Eyes blurring, she looked into the mirror, and saw a ghost: a beautiful woman, half-dressed and drowning in her rose-colored robe, the halo of her hair a tangled cloud, red like a broken heart."

I had to stop to savor it. So powerful, this repetition. It speaks so much of what effect their love has had on M.M., more so than what any fresh lines of prose could ever say.

Also, the beautiful narration and diction throughout. Like in the passage above, the words "drowning", "halo", and "tangled". Words that really illustrate how the concrete-the objective- are imbued with feeling. It's just wonderful.

Then the ending. Rimbaud's recurrence. Back to the clarinet, M.M.'s weapon of choice, echoing the beginning of this fic. The latter portion of this story is wonderfully heart-breaking. But. Not completely without hope. Perhaps it is only an empty Hope, like an illusion. Like the mist. And for this story, it's the perfect quality to take upon, because this is very much their own unique song to sing.

Thank you for posting this story here!

Beautifully and creatively written. Definitely unique and not an everyday read. It's a good change from the everyday yaoi pairings and sappy love stories.
