Hm, so re-reading this chapter... I get why you made it so they stole it for revenge, but... it just really doesn't make sense. Ordinary rank and file soldiers would be far too scared of a SPARTAN to do so. The only ones ballsy enough would be ODST's, and they're smart enough to recognise the usefulness of a SPARTAN, so they wouldn't do something like that. Say what you will, but there has never canonically been an ODST dumb enough to fuck with a SPARTAN, let alone try to steal their armour. The only ones close would be the ones who challenged Chief when he was a kid, and SPARTANs didn't exist in the public eye back then.

Bit of an unrealistic choice having them steal it for revenge. I just can't get behind it. No marine would be stupid enough, and very, very, very few would be ballsy enough. Not to mention no marine would even WANT to leave a SPARTAN to venture into hostile territory.

Sorry, But that breaks the immersion a bit, and I can't get behind that decision.

I have literally one issue with this entire fic.
Six's armour couldn't have been stolen by the two marines. Literally could not have.

Three reasons:

One, The armour weighs a ridiculous amount, and there's no way the marine would be able to stand, much less move, without a SPARTAN's augmented strength. Not to mention the question of how they were able to lift all the pieces out of there without Six noticing.

Two, The armour takes several hours to put on without help from people who know exactly what they're doing, especially for two marines who've never even seen the process of taking off or putting on the armour. No way they could've stolen it in the time Six was underwater, let alone put it on.

Three, it would've immediately killed the marine who put it on. MJOLNIR (yes, even the B variation that Six has) was specifically designed to work with (and enhance) the reaction speed, muscle and bone density, and strength, of a SPARTAN. Any marine who put it on would immediately move faster than they could handle, breaking their bones and rupturing them from the inside out. Even SPARTAN 3's had reaction times similar to the 2's, and they still had to modify the base MJOLNIR design so it wouldn't be too much. That's why none of Noble have the base variation of MJOLNIR, with the exception of Jorge. He has MJOLNIR IV armour, that he "Made a few additions" to, as stated himself. (For citation, look at the GRENADIER helmet description in Reach's armoury. It states the GRENADIER variant is from the 4th Gen of MJOLNIR.)

With these reasons in mind, it would've been highly unlikely they could've stolen Six's armour, and it would've been physically impossible for them to wear it.

However, if I choose to selectively ignore that entire section, and imagine that the marines simply left, and Six found Jun in her armour (as it should've been), then this is an incredible fic that actually made me tear up at points. Good job, and with the exception of that mistake near the end, I loved it.

Just read all the way through this in a handful of days. It's a masterpiece. I love it. Currently standing as... probably one of the best Reach fanfics around, hell, among the best Halo fanfics around, period.

As a lesbian, I'm normally not inclined to even give hetero-romantic stories a chance. There are a great many disappointing ones out there, and even decently written ones usually lack anything interesting or unique enough to keep me engaged, given there is rarely anything I can identify with (and the majority are written from the viewpoint of a man).

However. The wonderfully family-like dynamic of Noble Team, and the fact that the story is entirely from an F6's viewpoint, was enough to bait me into giving the story a click. And I'm supremely glad I did. You've managed to make something truly special, especially in this fandom - character depictions that feel human, with feelings and fears and bonds with others, without detracting from the badass factor that is the fact they're the elite of the elite and the deadliest warriors humanity has to offer. There's the fear and suffering of being hurt by the inevitable losses of war, but there's also the sweetness and comfort of being close to someone special. There's realistic depictions of trauma and dissociation. There's no glossing over how painful, exhausting, and disgusting a protracted battle is for the soldiers on the ground. I'd go so far as to say this is worthy of being the "official" narrative of Noble Six on Reach - and it's certainly a better story than anything from Halo 4 onwards.

Anyway, thank your for this wonderful story. Carry on being awesome.

Ive gotta say, I dont think Ive ever read a Halo Reach story as good as this one. I've read it about five times and still makes me cry a little everytime. its such a beautiful storyline and Im so glad that someone appreciated Carter as much as I do haha!

The details put into characgers made them feel even more real than they were already. The developement wasn't rushed, the action scenes-I could visualize them. I hope someone from Bungie or 343 sees this one day because WOW, youve hit the nail on the head.

I think you’ve killed me. I was not expecting it to end so soon! But I’m very happy with the ending, it’s so fitting for Jennifer and this story in general. And what an absolutely beautiful, wonderful and well-written story this was. From start to finish you had me hooked. You nailed each character from Noble Team and you made Noble Six into her own unique character while sticking to the rough outline of what we know of Six, but made her your own character that didn’t feel out of place in a world she already existed in. You just absolutely nailed them all perfectly and made me love them all even more.

And we finally got to hear/read what Carter had to say! You honestly had me in tears from the moment the monument came into play and then when Carter’s audio started... oh those tears just wouldn’t stop. It was so beautiful and so heart wrenching and so perfectly Carter. I loved it and hated it at the same time for tugging on my heartstrings like you did.

I could go on for a very long time about this chapter and this story, but it would be full of repeating sentences because I just can’t say enough how fantastic this story is. And you already know that I’d absolutely LOVE to see a new story for this story but from Carter’s POV. There are certain chapters in particular that I’d love to read and see how Carter would react or see what he’s doing while Six was off elsewhere - like when Six and Kat spend the one mission together after Nightfall (the one where it starts off with an epic warthog and mongoose army driving towards the Covenant (can’t remember what that mission level is called)) and other missions of course. Just know that whenever that story comes out (if it does), you’ll definitely have a reader in it from me!

That conclusion honestly got me in my feels, well done. I would actually live to see a continuation or at least something from carters POV. I’ve may of not of reviewed or anything but I’ve been following this story since I found it in 2012 great job. Keep up the good work.
