This is a very beautiful character study. I love it. I cherish stories about such small moments a lot. There will never be enough of those. Especially Janeway is a character with such intelligence and compassion and depth, that all those superficial action stories feel empty if they do not take the time for these moments. Thanks a lot!

Just came across this again; forgot how much I like it and, in case you still have an account and receive reviews, thought I'd tell you. Great story premise, true first season characterization, and taut, sharp writing. (You had me at "Of course, he'd never demonstrated a particular propensity for upholding Starfleet protocols and it had been a long time since anyone had accused him of morality"!) I don't suppose you'd consider writing more Voyager/Paris stories?

Great story, I'd never thought about Tom Paris ever having any feelings for Captain Janeway.

A little lengthy in places but adds to suspension.

As I said at JuPiter, it's a brilliant piece. Bonus points for throwing Chuckles out of the room. LOL. Can't wait till you write more (hint, hint)

A perfect addition to "Caretaker". Paris knows what it's like to grow up a Fleet brat like Janeway has, so he knows how it's like for her to separate the 'Captain' from 'Kathryn'.

Great story. Even falls into my favorite Voyager category: Paris/Anyone Besides Torres. :) Enjoyed it immmensely.

This story puts things and events in our lives into perspective with the 'business person' and the 'family member' of everyone. We all have two people in us and at different times each need to come out, the hard part is to find out when that may be. This was stated very well with the Captain and Paris. The vulnerablity Paris felt captures all of us at times, yet we need to continue in order to reach the inner person of someone else. Great job writing this, I really enjoyed the story. A.K. are you hinting at Paris and the Captain getting together? :)
