Beautiful story, wasn't sure if I reviewed last time I read it, so here goes. You write very nicely and I enjoy the way you 'make' Danny & Steve interact - like two brothers who know each other well enough to know when each other is hurting and when to leave them alone! I particularly liked the bit where you have Danny understanding Steve's facial expression - always think that's funny in the show too. Great writing style and wish there was more to this piece. I would love to know what Steve thinks of some of the SEALs recent work in the 'Stan - if you ever get bored and need something to write about? Kind regards Smooth Doggie

Very good story, AZgirl. I thought at first that it was going to be Steve's sister Mary Ann or his girlfriend Catherine that had died. Glad it wasn't, but still, loosing a friend is hard, too. Nice way for Danny to be there for him.

And praise God for wiping away all tears.

What a wonderful little story; full of friendship, love, understanding, regret, doubt and reassurance.

Steve and Danny are so tuned in to each other, they know what the other is going to do, they can read each other like an open book. It was so cute when Steve was just putting the food on the plate the exact moment Danny arrived.

I was really glad that Danny gave Steve the time he needed to process the news, but was there for Steve when he was ready. Great friendship.

You let Danny say just the right words to somewhat dispel Steve’s doubts about his abilities of being a good friend.

I think the biggest regret we can have in life is when we fail to tell someone how very much we appreciate them, or even love them. How much they mean to us. We often thing that we get in touch tomorrow or next week and suddenly it is too late for that. That is the biggest regret and something we can never set right. We can only hope that the other knew it anyway through the time we were in contact.

But I think it does not make one a bad friend because we sometimes lose contact, it is often just the way of the world. It happens to all of us. Only thing you can do is move on and do better in the future.

I'm currently on a visit to my home country where I have left some family members too long without contact...some want to renew the contact but for some, I've left it too late...it's terrible how we can regret things we did when we were younger because sometimes, the time just runs out before you can change things back!
