hank chapter 1 . 1/4/2016
me again .. I forgot to mention.. where Jim is being debriefed on his action in saving Sulu off the platform he said ."I had hoped my shoot would be able..." the word should be 'chute' short for 'parachute' and the end of that sentence is a little off '...as two signals are easier' possibly you meant'... two signals are harder to lock onto'?

there was a Star Trek book[ #47 in the original series] waaay back called The Kobiyashi Maru where the different bridge officers discussed their performance on the test, also a good story as a short novel . Your version was a good update to the 2009 version. you might try your hand at some other characters' performance.

Soooo, I was wondering... Is Admiral Aleksei Kozlov a reference to Alexei Krislov, from David Gerrold's Jumping Off the Planet?
onaleia chapter 1 . 7/10/2013
I believe Spock used the name Selek while time-traveling to his own past during The Animated Series.
Emberka-2012 chapter 1 . 9/3/2012
Fanfic is simply brilliant. I read it with ease and pleasure. Thank you.

Wow! This was such an amazing story! I love how you filled in the blanks that the movie left - the debriefings, the debate of the Kobayashi Maru, Jim's background. I especially love how you handled the situation of Tarsus IV and how Starfleet reacted to it, namely by classifying the heck out of it and Jim's part in everything. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Pike didn't see that when he peeked into Jim's file back in Riverside.

I agree with you on the whole subject of Komack being the mentor in this situation. I don't doubt that Pike would have been there through the whole process if he'd been able, but you're right, the man was likely confined to a hospital bed and/or going through additional surgeries. The fact that he was still confined to a wheelchair at the commencement ceremony only supports that. In light of all that, it makes sense that Jim very likely had someone else pulling for him during everything that went down after the Enterprise made it home.

Again, great job! Thank you so much for sharing! :)

That was amazing!

I think that is one of the best one-shots I have ever read!

I really love the amount of depth you put into it, and the amount of personality your characters had!

Well done!

I have to say, you did not get enough reviews for this story, at all. This was a great story! Not only did you cover Kirk's reasons for the Kobayashi Maru test, but you covered how Kirk graduated, and basically everything that happened right after the movie. Spock was fantastic during the whole thing, and his opinions on being emotionally compromised were really good. The Tarsus IV thing was great, you didn't overdo it, and it was written well into the story. Good job!
save the sharks chapter 1 . 10/26/2011
I loved it~! Can you continue? I would like to see the crew's reactions when they discover Jim's history.
Azamiko chapter 1 . 10/19/2011
Really liked your use of Tarsus, the KM, and Komack.

This is so amazing a story! You write the characters perfectly - so realistic. And it's nice and long, I like a story that you can get your teeth into. You picked a subject that not many people have written about, and even less written well - yours was very complete, and I think it really was something that could have happened, if you know what I mean.

I was so dissapointed to find that you haven't written any other Star Trek stories - I do hope you are planning some more!

Thanks again for the great story, I'll be looking out for more of yours,
