Love how he left a message for John

Wow, you nailed this one. As former military I know that many soldiers who receive metals for valor and such don't display them or talk about them and what they did to get them, what they had to go through etc. They usually only show them when they have to wear their formal uniforms with their metals on them. From my experience it's usually the family members that have their loved ones metals on display and unfortunately it's because the soldier who earned those awards/metals has died.
MysteryLady-Tx chapter 1 . 10/23/2014
that was AWESOME because John is well AWESOME! Loved the way you added that note, very nice!

THANKS:"D

Excuse my blindness in this fandom xD I rarely watch tv shows so...

(Sherlock needed scissors. Preferably the small type used for sewing.)

He wants to sew? Aww how cute. A guy with sewing skills is like one of the best husbands lol

(Need sewing scissors. SH)

I thought SH stands for "same here" but then I realized it didn't make sense. I completely forgot his name was Sherlock Holmes xD Anyway, do they live together by any chance? O.o

(John took three minutes and twenty four seconds to reply.)

LOL was Sherlock staring at the clock to know the exact same time it took him to reply?

(Inside, glinting slightly, was the pair of silver medical scissors John used for stitching his patients up,)

John is a doctor... interesting.

(and a packet of jelly beans which looked like they'd seen better days.)

lmao

(Sherlock's heart stopped. He was holding John's Victoria Cross. Correction, he thought numbly, I'm holding John Watson VC's Victoria Cross.)

*jaws drop* WOW! That John is :O omg o.o he survived a war? This man deserves a clap but there got to be some old scars of such war :(

(Each little message had a name written next to it. The paper was covered in them.)

It's nice to know he saved some lives ;-;

(It was a report of John Watson after he had been found, initially believed to be MIA, but in actual fact had escaped from a prisoner of war camp.)

... O.O how is this guy even alive? :O damn, he is so strong!

(He smiled when his phone buzzed in his pocket, three minutes and twenty four seconds later.)

XD I'm starting to think he ALWAYS reply after three minutes and twenty four seconds. It's probably an inside joke that a blind fan won't understand.

Chapter review: This one shot was simple yet so sweet. I can feel the friendship of these two friends so well. It was enjoyable to read with the details you added on how Sherlock reacted. Really enjoyable! I respect John now! I may have not watched Sherlock Holmes but I think John is really a great person. I'm amazed by the fact he managed to escape that prison! I don't know if there was a episode about it but if there was I'll probably watch it. It would be very thrilling to watch him struggle to escape. I'm such a huge fan of these stuff lol Either way, the story had a nice flow. Not too fast or slow. I gained an insight into the life of Sherlock and John. I also found out a lot of stuff about them.

John: He is a doctor, have been in a war, replies at a specific time lol

Sherlock: He knows how to sew ;) (or maybe he wanted that scissor for something else xD), very knowledgeable? Not sure if that is the right word but this part

"Sherlock murmured, pressing his finger into the clumps of sand and rubbing it between the pad of his index and his thumb. A thousand different facts and figures about said sand danced before his eyes, before he dismissed them."

pretty much told me he uses his senses a lot to figure out some stuff. Too well informed! That's a detective for you. Makes me want to be one too.

Last thing I want to mention is I like how he also added his message to his friend too *-* it made me feel good to know John have a friend that appreciates him. Now I'm curious on how John would react to it when he see it. Gotta make another fic were he finds out :P

Hello! Congratulations on having your story chosen as this week's SAtC for the forum Ange and Neo's Hostile Takeover! I apologise as I am 100% fandom blind.

I like the simplicity of this story. It wasn't a complex storyline. Just a nice, simple story that flowed really well. However, although the storyline was simple, you still payed attention to detail and described things in vivid detail which I thought was brilliant.

I thought it was interesting how precise you were about how long it took John to respond to Sherlock's text message. I don't know if "three minutes and twenty four seconds" is of some sort of significance because I don't know much about this fandom. I just thought it was interesting.

Also, I didn't come across any spelling, grammar or punctuation errors in your writing so well done for that.

Overall, a great story! Well done! Keep up the great writing! :)

I'm completely fandom blind, so I'll try my best. From what I know, Watson is the sidekick to the much famed Sherlock Holmes, and now here he is going through his own partner's stuff while he's away.

It's a moment of inspiration and realization for Holmes when he realizes that Watson is just as much of a hero as he is, and was indeed respected in his time.

I can imagine Watson has a great relationship with Holmes, but is still living in his shadow. Now Sherlock is going to give him some sunshine, praising him for all the help.

"John took three minutes and twenty four seconds to reply." - lol, when we're anxious, we always feel like such a short time is an eternity. It probably means something but I'm fandom-blind.

NitPicks:

"becoming increasingly more and more agitated" (this sentence sounds a little weird, maybe delete "increasingly")

First off...Congrats for getting chosen for SatC of Ange and Neo's Hostile Takeover! I am partially fandom blind to Sherlock. I haven't seen the show but I have read fanfics and watched clips so I definitely know the characters, how they act and the general idea of the show. So on with the review!

I love your descriptions and the flow of the story. To me it seemed like you added a underline of angst and maybe drama to when Sherlock found the cross. It felt like drama to me and angst. This especially...I just feel so sad about what John must have went through.

'Detailed descriptions of John's injuries, the tortures they had used on the soldiers, and how John had planned the escape, surviving with a bullet in his shoulder, and then carried back by a certain William Murray.'

But you added dashes of humor that I loved. It helped keep it lighthearted...

' a few adrenaline shots, which he absolutely did not pocket, not at all, nope,'

Yep...that's like Sherlock...lol.

You made this one shot have so much meaning. For Sherlock's friendship with John and how he thanks John by writing it that piece of paper...that was perfect. Light hearted, friendship, slight angst and slight humor. No grammar errors that I could see. You did wonderful with this one shot. :) I really liked this. Keep writing!

Well, this is my first review for you. For the story 'John Watson VC' I heard this was a short one-shot, so I might as well just read that now. I've seen a few episodes of the show Sherlock, so it's not like I know nothing of the series.

So when he said he needed new scissors, small ones, I was thinking of the kind that third graders have during school days, until you said that it's what people use during sewing. Don't know if there was any resemblance, but the line 'Sherlock needed scissors. Preferable the small type' just made me think that.

'John took nearly three minutes and twenty four seconds to reply' I find that to be oddly exact. How would he know the exact time it would take, was he counting the seconds?

I wonder is Watson ever gets tired of having to help Sherlock non stop. I would get tired of having to do that to somebody all the time after a while. That's just me. Going by the line 'Go to my room, there in my drawer' or something like that.

I don't know why but I'm holding John Watson's VC Victoria Cross are me laugh a little. I don't know if it was meant to be funny, but I thought it was.

'Heroes don't exist John, if they did, I wouldn't be one of them.' Best line in the entire story. Because it's so true to many things. Good line that you have in here. Like I said, represents so many stories in some way or another. I thought of so many different things when I saw that one line alone.

Overall, short but I had a good laugh at it while reading. Not like in the so bad way, but because come lines made me laugh. I don't know if that was the purpose of the story or not, but I got that out of it. So I liked it for that.
