If the Doctor is watching from a distance, then he's not actually met his "hero."

I do like Daenerys, but I don't see her as a hero. Heroes typically fight the good fight for a cause bigger than themselves. Daenerys so far only seems interested in reclaiming the throne for selfish reasons at a time when history seems to have passed the Targaryens by. That's not being a hero, that's just looking out for one's own self-interest without regard for consequences.

I can definitely see the Doctor admiring Daenerys' spunk because she reminds him of Rose. But to see someone who promises to burn down cities when her dragon weapons of mass destruction have grown as a hero? That doesn't sound like the Doctor's style to me.

Out of character for him.
