Yeah, where did that come from? If you're having to justify a character's thoughts/actions/behaviour using the "where did that come from" cliché, it means your character needs more development. Nobody wants to read about those "where did that come from" characters.

Aw, there's actually almost a tear in my eye after reading this, because I can honestly believe that Naruto and Karin both seriously wanted to have family around. If anything Karin probably acted as wacky as she did because she'd been so alone for such a long time. And she became a Sasuke fangirl. Ugh. Anyway, at least she finally met up with Naruto in this universe, now if only Kishimoto would do that in the manga. Oh and I know that Tsunade and Jiraya "probably" aren't Minato's parents, not that I wouldn't put it past Kishimoto, but I found it amusing anyway. This was simply adorable and heartwarming, plus it had NaruHina in it. So that alone I approve of. Nice bit of writing there, you kept them in character, despite these two characters having little to no interaction on a friendly level just yet. I hope they do eventually and that they find out about Nagato. heh Thanks for the entertainment and the fanservice, this fic was literally just what I was looking for in the search option. ;)

the relationship between Mito, Nagato, and Karin haven't really been spelled out just that they are all apart of the same clan as Naruto and means that Naruto or a child he fathers could get the Rinnegan.
