Owls mean you do not need an address, just a name, why didn't Harry get mail?

The books say Vernon hit Dudley at least once.
Since Vernon loves Dudley and hates Harry it is a logical assumption Harry was beaten even if it is not described in the books.

Why did Rowling make the Dursleys abusive?
Simple neglect would have established Harry as an Underdog Hero.
Many other stories just have the hero start as very poor.

LOVE as the power Tom knows not, what a joke, Harry does not know love either!

Ginny doesn't love Harry, she is obsessed with the Boy Who Lived.

I think it's funny that the heirs of the Hogwarts founders should have veto powers in the national parliament. I'm quite sure that the heirs of the founder of my old school don't have that power over our federal or even state parliament. At least not because their ancestor 150 years or so ago founded a school. Or not at all, as it's a parliament, not an oligarchic tyranny. I don't know if "the Sacred Twenty Eight" that can be found in several fanfics are canon, but they would be much better candidates for such a power.

Also, I don't understand why Hermione's core could be bound. Harry's I can accept, the Greatest Control Freak of All Times surely would have his little minion controllable. But why should Dumbles visit some random muggleborn and restrict their magic? Unless he does it to all those dirty mudblood animals so they don't show up his precious purebloods in school.

Short, sweet and straight to the point. I like it.

A very good start for a story. I also think potions is the best explanation for both canon pairings. Ginny literally admits that she loves Harry because he is the hero, and Hermione and Ron are arguing all the time. Even Rowling admitted that this pair MIGHT work with counseling. This "bickering like an old married couple" just means that said couple should long ago have got their divorce.

Rowling at least got her own divorce, so I don't know why she put those together in a book aimed at children and teenagers.

Just one thing I don't understand, why does Hermione say that she will go to Hogwarts? Obviously she regained her knowledge, so she should be fine. At most, she should be able to refresh her knowledge a little and then take the exams.
