uh... a program with no face?
Briannajs-22 chapter 9 . 8/22/2013
Loving this entire story thus far as well as the pace within the chapters for the sake of detail. Sam and Tron are being portrayed well together. Not to mention the comparisons and the differences between a program and a user.

As well as the humour.

Was also a good characterization of Tron regarding his response to Sam's question, and a reflection of his survivor's guilt.
Cyberbutterfly chapter 9 . 7/23/2013
Okay- first I'm apologizing because this review has taken forever and a day to get to you- and that's disheartening at best... But know that I HAVE been keeping an eye out and I'm still reading your stories.

And this chapter was just what I've come to expect from your stories- awesome writing. I love Tron trying to get Sam to fly well was funny as hell to read, and I'm continuing to love how you have the Rinzler persona interacting with Tron- it's a form I've never seen done in a story yet and I love how well it plays off the situation.

And even then you still manage to have this deep personal interaction between Sam and Tron... And once more the interaction between Rinzler and Tron plays a huge part of that. I love how fractured BOTH personalities are- with Rinzler completely blaming Flynn (I tend to agree with a lot of Rinzler's points on the matter, btw) and Tron equally intense in the opposite field of the issue.

Then there's US5 (and Sam landing at it- another 'funny as hell to visualize' moment) and I have to say what really stuck in my mind was Jin... Somewhat for what his purpose/format is, as well as what he's doing there and functional (seeming as how everyone but Tron and Sam doesn't seem to be), but mostly because I- like Sam- am having a WTF moment with him not having a face... Not that a program attached to a grid NEEDS a face, because there would be other ways to tie oneself to the grid... But still... NO FACE... W. T. F.

So... Still reading, still loving it, and I can't wait to see what you do with the next chapter- especially learning more about Jin and what his relationship to Tron is. :)

VectorPrism chapter 7 . 1/2/2013
I have been keeping up with this story for awhile, but didn't think to review it (I tend to be bad about that). I must say that you are a talented writer. You get the characters down perfectly and you have a very good writing style. I'm very excited to see where you go with this story, and it made my day when I saw that you had posted this latest chapter. I also need to thank you. It was this story that prompted me to look further into the Tron universe, which ultimately led me to watching and buying the first movie (which I previously had no idea about).
Shayne Pratt chapter 7 . 12/19/2012
Welcome back author! Great chapter , I've never seen that take on a rebooting program before, pretty cool! Can't wait to see what other goodies you got in store for us.
Cyberbutterfly chapter 7 . 12/19/2012
Oh-HO, darling... I takes WAY more than this for me to give up on someone... I'm like that annoying raccoon you feed once and now can't get rid of even with a broom and poison- as long as this story is here, I'll keep coming back. :P

And- taking time or not- I LOVE how you write Tron's POV... The fractured way of thinking (I'm almost reminded of who people write Jonathan Crane or Cas and Jimmy) is a REALLY interesting dynamic which I don't think anyone has ever considered doing for this guy. (and I'd LOVE to steal the idea and claim it for myself if it wouldn't be for the overwhelming sense of guilt that would leave me with 0_0)

But... LOL... Okay, the first thing I have to say right here, right now- is that backlog of a reply Tron gave Sam... first- made me chuckle like the fan girl I am... Second- you know, I read it twice and thought back and could actually REMEMBER all but 1 of the moments that he would be responding to. (First one- I was thinking it was Sam's comments about him being like Alan... Reread to find out it was the comment about being like a bird- because he didn't actually VOICE the Alan comments)

There's something almost touching about this chapter... First in Tron's simple WILLINGNESS to allow Sam to manipulate his disks. (I know he tried keeping an eye on him as he did it- but come on... After everything he's been dealt- it's amazing he has ANY level of trust at all!)... Though that whole 'standing idle meant no kill commands' and what it implied gave me chills... I'm VERY curious to see what happens now that he's started to repair himself; part in just him gaining more functions and memory- but also what will happen to the 'Rinzler' code. (whether it will be merged or outright rejected)

And... I have to say- I love that Tron's idea of a 'calibration test' is actually a feat of stunning acrobatics! (S-ooooo Tron)

Okay... confession time... I KID YOU NOT- when you talked about Tron humming, I started humming the 'Tron' lightcycle music as well! Not WELL, mind you, but it was indeed the first thing that came to mind when I thought 'what would Tron HUM'.

Sam was enjoyable as always in this chapter... That wonderful mix of knowledgable and 'flying by the seat of my pants' that I tend to think is simply the 'Flynn' genes at work. It was touching to read how fast he became worried about Tron (cause, there's one program that is REALLY going to need a friend after all the crap he's been put through). And I'm right there with him as you described Tron's actions to being re-synced.

D-A-M-N.

(and THAT is why Tron is, and always will be, the best!)

Well... You already know my thoughts on Tron's info dump at Sam... But the questions about Alan had me wanting to hug the program all over again.. Cause, yeah... I could easily see Flynn not being the type to even THINK to lay it out for Tron how he ended up there.

And I'm looking forward to the new chapter now more than ever! Sam and Tron working together is guarenteed awesome- and I could definitely see Tron viewing it as an opportunity to 'redeem' himself for everything Rinzler did. (I also tend to visualize Tron with a guilt complex a mile wide).

I'm also curious to see how you develop the relationship between Sam and Tron (noted the eventual Sam/Tron 'warning'... I'm fine with that)... Firstly, THANK YOU for taking your time about it and developing the story and characters first. I have no problem with slash- but I tend to just roll my eyes at stories that run just shy of being porn. (I like STORY to be the primary and the relationship to have been built on the basis of that)... Second- I'm also truly and really interested to see how you have Sam deal with the 'he looks like a young/fit Alan'... Because while I know (and you stated) that Tron and Alan are two VERY different people (even somewhat in appearance)... there still has to be something within that dynamic that Sam reacts to...

Anyway... I'm rambling now- which is a CLEAR sign that I should shut up... S-O... WELCOME BACK (I bow in humblness to your superior 'timliness' of writing pauses ;D). Excellent chapter (I've come to know you deliver nothing less- much to my delight) and MERRY CHRISTMAS! (if I don't hear from you before... I know this time of year is NUTS for most people)
Mimi MC chapter 7 . 12/18/2012
This chapter isn't pathetic, it's actually really great! It's a wonderful talent to be able to pack so much plot and characterization into a few thousand words. Don't worry about the wait, this chapter was so worth it. I love the part with Tron humming the music 'That's the Start menu music from Lightcycles.'
Thank you and hope to see more!
realisticFantasy chapter 6 . 11/4/2012
(bit-byte here. realisticFantasy is just what i normally use) this is great so far! the idea is certainly unique, that's for sure. i can't wait for the next chapter!
bit-byte tic-tac chapter 5 . 11/4/2012
just a word of advice before i read the chapter-evolution is possibly the hardest game i have ever played. i got stuck on the second...chapter? level? whatever you want to call it. at least it's hard on the ps3. you have to go up against a grid tank all by yourself! with only your disc! there ia a tron wiki you can go on to get the plot. that's what i ended up doing.

on to reading the chapter!
Mimi MC chapter 6 . 11/3/2012
Oh my god, I just found this today. Where have you been all my life? This is insanely complex with brilliant depictions of characters. I love the 'insert disc 1' section, somehow it is so close to our reality yet at the same time so fantastic. Please continue this story, this is too amazing to end here.
Cyberbutterfly chapter 6 . 10/9/2012
Okay... So despite obvious evidence to the contrary- I have not dropped off the face of the earth... Unfortunately life has been busy as such that this review has been a MONTH in development... For that- I apologize.

But... This chapter packed a lot in it.

Tron's musing at the beginning are both touching and sad... It's hard to see him this 'fractured'- but at the same time I applaud your ability to keep him understandable while at the same time keeping him different enough that we always remember that he's NOT human... Not that it means anything (I still care for him as a character) but it's nice to see that you spend the time to make sure his thought processes are slightly different than ours.

And then there's Sam waking up after being shock all to hell... (lol- reminding me of something my dad informed me of '110 tickles, 220 hurts')... So- it must be the total fangirl neek (neek- combination of nerd and geek) in me that found the whole disk syncing process with Tron absolutely fascinating!

It was something we all know (between movies, comics, and Uprising- they've explained the importance of disks)... But there was something fresh and new about this interpretation of it. And Tron having/needing two disks because of all the information he stored was sheer GENIUS! Because you've got to figure that a 30 year old program is going to have a LOT of files attached to it!

So now Tron has his disks back- and Sam has something to work with in maybe repairing the guy... Plus possibly even helping to stabilize some of the problems he has with the Tron/Rinzler programing loops.

PLEASE don't think because I took so long to review that I've lost interest... I jumped for joy like the fangirl I am when this came into my mailbox- and I can't wait to read more! :D
