I really like this! I love how, unlike in many similar stories, there seem to be actual repercussions here! It's not just, their parents die, they go to live on the streets. The police, their relatives, the orphanage - all that stuff is involved. Very believable. And I love how Mako mourns for his parents HIMSELF very tangibly, he's not just like, 'Well, I have to be Bolin's father now. I can never cry or show emotion.' When Bolin says he wants his parents, Mako says "me too." They cry TOGETHER. THANK YOU FOR THIS. Also, I like that Mako says "they're dead" and explains things. Sure it took a little while but in other stories be just pushes it off with vague euphemisms and I'm just left thinking that Bolin must be confused as hell about what ever happened to their parents and their life. This story is so much more fulfilling and realistic, to me. And also quite well-written, so thank you!

It's sad you couldn't finish this completely as there aren't many great mako bolin brotherly fics out there, especially ones this spectacular, but I am happy you posted the outline as the last chapter. It helped me accept that this fic was over T.T You're an amazing writer darling! Seriously, amazing.

this story was amazing and while i am sad it won't get finished, it was nice to read the summaries of what was planned to come. great writing and amazing storytelling. love these brothers and you do them so much justice. was really worried mako and atka would end up getting pregnant but glad that didn't happen. atka was really sweet - for a character i only read about in a summary, i feel really attached to her.

not sure if you intended it this way, but it just occured to me that their parents could have been murdered due to a hate crime for their mixed family. also, poor mako - i wonder how long it took him to stop hating himself for being a fire bender? great story

i love that this deal with how they're a mixed family - i was wishing th show would do that when they met their grandparents. but this is very well done.

Geez this story is really good. Except I'm not fond of how abruptly it all ended. It feels like it's missing something. Thanks for writing it though!
