Only being able to be stopped by magic was a specific trait of the Griffin, as seen by the fact that Other killed most of the dragons, killing magical creatures by non-magical means are for the most part possible, there are just a few that have protections against mundane attacks.

Personally I think Gaius words are a cowards words, clinging to an evil because the law says it's allowed, bravery is killing Uther, and then give Arthur a chance to not be his father, knowing that he are likely to want you dead.

I can't believe Mer... You know what I do believe it. Merlin was an asshole for not visiting Morgana for 7 days after he promised but it was expected since canonly he was an asshole for not sharing his magic with her. I have such a love/hate relationship with Merlin. I just hate how the goodie 2shoes were the blame for Morgana doom they had alot to do with it ALL OF THEM. Morgana did have a chance to redeem herself and I hate that the writers killed her off and by Merlin hands. Morgana redemption would have been such a great Arc.

TBH this entire story idea cracks me up cause I just imagine morgana, in her evil gear, belting out "when will my life begin"

This would also make Merlin Flynn rider, and trying to imagine merlin as a fugitive who tries 'smoldering' is hilarious.
