Nice story so far, I like it! I smiled when Ariadne made a goof with the stairs, and it will be interesting to see why they are being followed. :) And yes, as someone already mentioned, "stateside" is just for the United States in general, possibly excluding Hawaii and Alaska, however, because they are off by themselves in the ocean and north of Canada.

Stateside is a term for the United States in general. So when he said he was going Stateside, that means he was heading back to the States. It's not a particular place. :)
