Kythorian chapter 1 . 9/25/2012
Yeah...this has always struck me too ever since the manga in which it actually showed when Kyuubi is sealed in Naruto was released...Kushina had a plan to pull Kyuubi back into her before she died, but Minato pretty much just throws it away with a 'nope bitch, we are doin' it my way'. Granted, Obito is a pretty incredibly biased viewpoint here, but everywhere else in Naruto, it is treated like there was no other option to stop the Kyuubi other than seal it within Naruto. And if that was the case its kind of reasonable. give your son a crappy life or have pretty much everyone in Konoha(probably including your son) die right now. But instead the option was...Give Naruto a good life with you continuing to be a good father and Hokage, or give your village a powerful weapon.

Ultimately, it is proven that regardless of what else Minato might have been(and i don't think he was actually evil or anything like Obito thinks of him), he cared more for the Power of Konoha(not its survival or even the survival of its citizens which would have been more reasonable, but just it's place as the greatest of the ninja villages) than he did for his son. Not really a pretty picture.
doc.exe chapter 1 . 9/9/2012
Well, interesting piece although I don't think it really works as Tobi's motivation. It would be incredibly hypocritical considering things like he planting exploding tags in Naruto as a newborn, not to mention how he took so much glee in killing Kushina.

Now, regarding Minato's decision, I get this is from the bitter point of view of Obito, but it reflects a certain misconception in the fandom. Many people tend to forget (probably because of Minato's lame retort regarding how "a father can't substitute for the mother") that without the Kyuubi under their control, the balance of power between the villages would have been lost and Konoha would have been attacked (and very likely destroyed). In the official translation, Kushina is actually pleading Minato to not sacrifice his life for the sake of the village neither the balance of power, to which Minato retorts that, given that her own home was destroyed when she was a child, she should understand how important is to protect Konoha for the sake of their son as well as their duty as shinobi.

Some people argue that Kushina's words imply that Minato didn't need to use the Dead Demon Seal to accomplish the same thing, but Minato had previously said it was the only method for a non-jinchuuriki like him to deal with the Kyuubi (the implication seems to be that Mito herself sealed the Kyuubi into Kushina).

If you ask me, the really questionable part is that he is willingly turning his son into a weapon against the masked man that attacked the village by putting so much faith into a prophecy.

Not really trying to defend Minato's decision, but...

If they had followed Kushina's plan, then: Kushina would have died; the Kyuubi would not have existed for a while; and the Kyuubi would have reappeared eventually but probably outside of Konoha's area of control.

That still created problems: (1) that the Kyuubi can reincarnate ((this part probably works a lot better if you grew up in a culture that's familiar with Hinduism or Buddhism)); and (2) that it was more important that Naruto retained a weapon of mass destruction for Konoha than that he grew up with his father; and (3) that Minato couldn't have sealed the Kyuubi inside Naruto without using a suicide technique.

About this story: I can understand that Tobito doesn't want to blame Rin, but she was the medic wasn't she? So, Rin was skilled enough to transplant a sharingan, but not skilled enough to detect that Obito wasn't dead?

But yeah...chapter 600 is going to be fantastic (note the sarcasm). Tobito is going to get a sob story...while other characters are going to be ruined forever to try and make that sob story work. Or not. I still haven't seen evidence to actually believe that the Uchiha were discriminated against.

Thanks.

I must not be up to date with the manga. What was Kushina's plan? Thanks for sharing.
zeonista13 chapter 1 . 8/30/2012
Now that we know the Big Reveal (and I curse myself for guessing it over a year ago and then saying "no") it is my own belief that Uchiha Obito died under the rock. The creature that lived on and took the name Uchiha Madara or Tobi was another person, a much nastier person. Sure, the body was the same, but the soul inside had changed, and the personality likewise. As the Japanese of days gone by had done, Tobi call-me-Madara could say, "I am no longer that person, but a new person devoted to a new life." So I guess I have some disagreement with the aim of this short piece. Especially with the issue of Naruto, whom Tobi had tried to slay in the womb, so any tanger over naruto's deprived young life would be crocodile tears, at best. Otherwise, it was a good piece.

This is really interesting. Nothing will ever make Tobi's plan less insane but these stories of yours are helping me to understand how he could have possibly gotten that way (chances are, better than the next few chapters will). When I first read the flashback to Naruto's birth, I really wasn't sure that I had read it right or the translation was right because it looked an awful lot like Kushina was going to die anyway but Minato could have stuck around and raised Naruto but instead he chose, for some inexplicable reason, that he should die too because this way - although Naruto would be left to the mercy of the village - he could one day have a ten-minute conversation with his mother. One conversation with one person was worth being completely alone in the world apparently. There are people I've talked to who have read that who apparently were just unable to believe it as they will still argue that Minato had no choice despite Kushina giving him that choice and him wanting her to have her ten minutes. I guess he has too much faith in motherhood and none at all in fatherhood.

Very good, right inline with the manga.

Oh my goodness that a great start. More history about this Tobi and Rin too. What did Kushina do?
Blinded in a bolthole chapter 1 . 8/30/2012
... I do think Madara was somehow involved in reviving and "God-Moding" Tobi. After all it's not like the Uchiha would learn about Madara's crazy plans and secrets of his techniques when hitting puberty (or maybe they do? They are kinda like bug/cheat-code of the series).
