Great fic! I find a lot of fics that follow this trope go unrealistic in the neglect/anger in the beginning (not that John's character isn't super up to interpretation, but I draw the line at malicious without motivations), so great job on setting it up well while keeping them all believable! Love it!

Hey...read this one AGES ago, and apparently never left a review, so it must have been in my early days of reading ff. I just enjoyed it all over again, so ...well done! I love this story...it's one of my fave scenarios, and you wrote it SO SO well! You did a wonderful job of finding a balance between hard-ass John and caring, concerned dad John, which I know is not always an easy line to tread. And Dean's anger, not over Sam's mistake during the hunt, but rather over not asking for help because he felt he deserved the pain...yep. That totally rang true. It was a great story.

Awesome second and third chapters! Trust Sam to have left his phone in his ruined jacket and for John to have lost his and Dean's have broken but thank goodness they spotted their youngest being loaded into an ambulance when they were out looking for him. And great that John wasn't mad at Sam, he should have asked him if he was okay and Sam did try to clean his wounds best he could. And, as usual, the Winchesters needed a quick getaway from the hospital! Loved the ending, some great brotherly banter.

Loved it... this is my fav type of story... when john and dean blame sammy for a hunting accident so he hides his injuries... Would love some more variations on this theme if you write another story!
