That moment, when Rin sees Shiemi for the first time really and just thinks to himself: fuck. That moment was absolutely perfect beyond anything. The whole fic (chapter 2 included) is great, but that single moment where Rin is just like 'this is it and I am so screwed' was indescribably perfect and I love it. Just the single moment turnaround and the instant surrender and admittance of complete and total defeat in a battle that never happened before he could even realize it was going to. Perfection.

Awww... that was so freaking sweet!

It has been a very, very long time since I squeed so hard I actually curled up like that. I was like a happy hedgehog, balled up on the mattress and giggling into the quilt for all it was worth. There was so much I loved about this ficlet, from Shima and Rin's gregarious friendship, to the latter's total transformation as he falls head over heels for a defined social reject.
