I knew it. As I was reating the stor the thought that Jack'a father could be a autobot crept into my head but I dismissed that. As the story continued though it kept popping up until I just decided to see if it was Hot Rod.

Jack's father is called Rof, which made me think immediately of Hot Rod
Second was the conversation that Hot Rod had, about meeting back at the meeting place
And third was the car colour of Hot Rods Altmode.
