How come abused, starved, socially isolated, muggle raised Harry has stronger morals then James had after growing up in a loving light side home, spending his formative years with light side Gryffindors hating on slytherin and eventually marrying a muggleborn?

Good lord, I did fall for it, I was like holy shit, the Dark Arts addled Professor Snape's head and Harry was super unlucky that their duel triggered something and made Snape snap.
