Aw I can't believe I had missed and not read and reviewed this fic before. So heartbreaking and beautifully done with fantastic extra little details that I loved.

This story has been here for forever, yet it’s the last one I have to review…Being honest, it’s because at first, I didn’t think much of it. It was just there and I’m not big on reviews anyway. I would also like to point out that while this is the first Silk fan fiction “officially” posted, I’ve been writing mine for almost a year and it’s on a forum, so this is certainly not the first written.

That being said, let me go into the actual review part. First off, I really like the idea behind this tale. It’s a nice character study and a good insight to Clive and Martha’s thoughts during this rather sad scene. (I can’t call it tragic, because I really respect the writer’s decision behind it.) I really like how it starts off and how Martha’s whole demeanor changes in a matter of seconds and makes Clive think. I also really like his thought process in that he’s going to keep his promise and support her no matter what happens. Martha’s dreams fit the situation well, even if I personally can’t see her wanting all of that, not consciously anyway. So, maybe they’re subconscious dreams finally coming forward? Just food for thought. Anyway, it’s just like Clive to be impatient and take action himself, and I can see the paramedics shouting after him as he walks off with Martha. Makes for a rather amusing sight actually.

To answer Clive’s mental question, my theory was that no one forced Martha to file a report because she couldn’t prove it, and they figured she could take care of herself. But can I see why he thinks of this and I like the use of the faded lipstick to indicate something isn’t right, especially since I’ve seen it be used as her hiding things. (Still not sure why though.) Anyway, the details in the hospital are nicely done, if a bit jumpy, but it works perfectly, as hospitals are like that—fast-paced and always working. I really like how Martha’s fears are shown through her thoughts about breaking the odds and proving others wrong. She knows the outcome, but still clings onto hope that maybe it will turn out okay in the end, as she is human and we tend to do that quite a bit. I’m also fond of her thoughts about Clive about how he can be arrogant, but does have his moments from time to time, like now. He doesn’t always show it, but he really does care for her. We then meet the nurse, who knows something is wrong, as do Martha and Clive. Clive has a bit of a flashback moment, before we shift back to reality and learn what we all knew was going to happen. What I really like here is the descriptions. You can really feel both Martha and, yes, even Clive’s pain even without a lot of words. Nicely done this part. And, Martha holding back her emotions is so in character, and I know how it feels to want to cry but your body won’t let you. (Though mine was related to physical injury, not emotional pain.)

I assume that they’re in Martha’s flat in the last, emotional scene. Again, I like the details here. Pain without being wordy. And we even get to see a bit of Clive’s pain. Nice that he stayed with her too. He knew he was needed.

Overall, there’s really not much else I can say. Nor is there anything really critical I can point out. It’ s a well-written, nicely detailed character-study. We get a good insight to Martha and Clive’s thoughts and explore what the series didn’t.

I got so excited when you told me they'd finally created a Silk archive, then I totally forgot about it. OH, I LOVE THIS STORY. That scene broke my heart too. Clive is just adorable when he's so gentle with her, and all the way through I just have Ed Sheeran's song running through my head. It's just lovely. *goes away to cry*

That was so heartbreaking. Soph this was fabulous and yaaay for being the first to publish :)
