Darkhymns chapter 3 . 3/29/2013 :D You're back! It's true that good things come to those who wait! *wipes away the dust from the fandom* Can I just say that I loved this from beginning to end? Poor Alfred just wants to care for the children, but I suppose it's tough to overcome centuries of prejudice for them to warm up to him- as Haplo knows. But just like with Haplo, they'll come around. :) And people have been trying to take his scales? XD Aww, just like a celebrity, he has to worry about people taking his personal effects- or in this case, parts of his dragon's form. (Who wouldn't want a pretty scale of Alfred's though?) It's so adorable with Alfred's fascination for Constin's books. Original copies are quite valuable after all! And the lessons with Haplo and Alfred are great with little moments like Haplo nearly falling over in bird form, and Alfred getting all protective for him because he doesn't want to use magic on him against his wishes. "Are you gonna ask me everytime you're supposed to change my shape?" Haha, so perfect. This was so worth the wait- with lovely friendship and dragon combos- for both of them! And Marit standing up for Alfred, even if her logic is a bit too practical. XD And the wonderful writing in general! This is a good way to start off the weekend for me. And I hope you'll be able to catch a break from your super busyness! (I can definitely understand that, haha) Just know I'll be as patient as ever. And hopefully finish my own story that I keep meaning to just be done with. XD Gotta keep the fandom going! Wishing you a Happy Easter! |
Happerry chapter 3 . 3/29/2013 Poor Alfred. Least he got to have some fun and show off for his friend. Dragonform and flight sound really fun. Makes me wish I was a shapeshifter. |
ShirouHokuto chapter 3 . 3/29/2013 Ahhh, this is fantastic! Haplo getting to fly, all his and Alfred's lovely conversations, Marit sticking up for Alfred... Just so great. |
Lu chapter 2 . 3/18/2013 You know, I keep coming back to check if this story is being updated but I never stopped to thank you for keeping the DGC fandom alive with your amazing stories. taking in count that Margareth Weis and Tracy Hickman don't seem to be willing to go back to these amazing characters and more than amazing world they gave us (that I, at least, like way more than their overvaluated Dragonlance world) thank you twice for your stories. this said just a couple of things: If the Serpent Mage and the other animal ranked wizards were an order of SARTAN runes users back in the time of the sundering, how comes that Constin is one and how was he recognized as a Serpent mage? Now that the possibility of a young Alfred is out there for you to play (awesome idea btw) will you include a little bit of Romance for our friend Alfred? why not a Patryn lady interested in such a strange character? of course it can give you some funny moments to come with as Alfred, being as modest and shy as he is I doubt that he would go an annouce himself as, well, himself in his younger body. Dunno just an idea. so once again thank you for keeping Alfred, haplo and the others alive and kicking and take care! seeya! |
Darkhymns chapter 2 . 1/1/2013 Let me just mention first off that this update made my new year's night. :) In fact, this was probably the very first thing story I read (and first thing I did in general) for the new year. Sleep can wait! Alfred's dream was so very well done, and I certainly didn't expect the appearance of Hugh! Just the very picture of one of his mistakes raving at him, and then with the Royal One coming next and just- poor Alfred. And I find myself liking Constin! Their interaction is fun to read and the inclusion of hearing the song/chant since they were children is just a wonderful detail about them both. Ending the dream with a headbutt to Haplo's head when he wakes is also the best (and cute! For serious!) Those dragons are really giving him some intensive lessons! But the Serpent Mage can handle it, of course. (And having him say he chooses to become one really makes it a powerful moment, and helps him be a tad more confident too). Now he just needs to utilize the appearance of his younger self more often! It would be, uh, good for society. Yes, yes, it would. *nods* Haplo joining Alfred's lessons already sounds like fun times are to be had- and yes, such times require the friendship/dragon combo. Evil serpents can't stand up to that. XD Oh, and I COMPLETELY agree about Hugh's death. I've always felt like they just dragged him along through the last book with no clear idea on what to do with him. So the idea of Alfred making a new spell for Hugh (and giving him a choice too, I love that detail so very much) definitely works. I'm taking it as canon now and you can't stop me. :P Happy New Year! |
Emeraldfireblade chapter 1 . 12/20/2012 Never read a Death Gate fanfic before. I only vaguely remember reading one or two of the books as a teen, but this was enjoyable enough. Guardian of the Sacred Emerald Flames |
Darkhymns chapter 1 . 12/20/2012 I am already excited for this story. :D Poor Alfred so afraid of his power, but having Haplo around will make things easier for him! I love the scene between them and the drake and having Alfred taking steps to get used to his title. And Haplo patting his scales is such a heartwarming gesture- even if he thinks its weird at first. XD But he does it again anyway because friendship! -as well as dragons, both making the best combo. The little story of them going fishing together is also great and adorable. Stumbling over the grass to get their catch and you can tell they had fun. It's so great seeing them happy. :) And the hug Alfred gives both Haplo and Marit just melts my heart. I like the reasoning behind Constin's character; I mean, even if Vasu might have had some Sartan ancestors, that is interesting how he knew about the rank titles which was apparently an ancient kind of hierarchy of power. If the Sartan had them, then yeah, why wouldn't the Patryns also have a similar system since the two races balance each other out? But yeah, it's good having only one Serpent Mage around- and a humble and loveable one at that. Totally looking forward to more! The holidays are already looking even brighter for me. :D Merry Christmas! |
