Goodness, this is the best! It starts off very sad and emotional, but it's wonderful when Neal decides he's going to help out by walking Satchmo and really gets what he wants - without even having to misbehave by stealing wallets! :D

It's just so warm and delightful, and I love that Peter and El are already walking Satchmo since he's such a part of their lives and it's not like they're troubled by more people being around - family being around - and then they just...they've included Neal. There was no thought to it. It's natural for the Burkes to have him as part of the family. And you wrote it beautifully. I think this may be one of my favourite ones of yours SO FAR. (Since I still have more left to read!)

Wow?. That was so sweet. Neal is so kid like at the end. I love the angst at the beginning, bringing some depth into Neal's psyche.
