Not a bad place to leave the story hanging.
Ferdiad chapter 9 . 11/8/2016
Byakuya certainly is a badass/.
Ferdiad chapter 6 . 11/8/2016
God I forgot how cheap the first few battles in this arc are. He just constantly powers up.

Enjoyed the story hope at some point you continue it. Excellent job in getting ichigo's characterization.
Rory O'Kane chapter 10 . 12/9/2014
I like this series’s take on the story of Bleach. Ichigo seems a lot smarter and more relatable when I can hear his internal monologue. I can see that he’s not just an impossibly-determined action hero. He shows enough intelligence and curiosity to guess at the cause for the prevalence of Asian culture in Soul Society, and to ask what Komamura is. The background for Ichigo that you added improves some events, such as when he relates his Hollow side to himself when he fought on the streets for the fun of it.

I also liked that you tried to give an explanation for every time Ichigo was losing a fight and then randomly made himself stronger. You mentioned that he learned to use ki, or he took advice from his opponents, or he bonded with his sword – it was better than the repeated apparent “determination can do anything!” of the original story. Some of it was still cheesy or kind of unlikely, but there’s no avoiding that when you stick to the source material.

I liked that you gave explanations for the classic shonen behavior of stopping attacking to describe your fighting style, or waiting while your opponent has an epiphany. Ichigo notices that his opponents adhere to an unusual code of honor and takes advantage of that. He also psychoanalyzes his opponents so that when they brag about how strong they are, it’s not just information for the reader; it actually has an effect on Ichigo’s thoughts.

However, I wouldn’t say the story is perfect. A few times, mainly at the end of Guardian, it got a bit boring because I knew what was coming – you were following canon. This couldn’t really be avoided with this type of story. Luckily, I didn’t remember the story perfectly, so there were still plenty of surprises, such as the identity of the man that Ichigo resembles. And it helped that you didn’t cover all of canon in detail – just the parts that Ichigo saw first-hand. It was also lucky that I already knew what all the characters look like, from repeatedly playing as them in the game Bleach: Dark Souls – your textual descriptions have no specific problems, but still don’t live up to the character’s images.

At a few points, when Ichigo was describing how Soul Society was messed up, like calling Rukongai the “outskirts”, I wished you could deviate from canon and start writing about Ichigo trying to reform Soul Society. *That* would be interesting. But it would also be kind of out of character for Ichigo, who cares most about just the people close to him, or people in direct danger, so your sticking with canon is not so bad.

Ok this chapter. This chapter right here is just so epic I had to review just to say it.
Lamon chapter 1 . 12/2/2014
The one thing I don't like is the large amount of song lyrics in every page. Of course I just skip it, but still. Anyways lets see what gonna happen next.

...Well, it took me a little longer than I wanted to have the time to read this second installment, but here I am! You've continued on to do another fantastic job with this story and I'm so glad I was able to read it (even if life kept me busy until now. I really shouldn't even be reading it now with all the tests I have to take, but once I started I couldn't put it down!)

I love seeing things from Ichigo's point of view, it provides such an interesting perspective. Your interpretation of him combined with the canon events really had me hooked, I loved seeing all the little pieces that make up Ichigo. Specifically, one of my favorite elements that you showed was his intelligence. It's such an interesting part of him that you can only really see glimpses of in the manga, it's really cool to see things from his mind in this story. I loved all the foreshadowing that you included as well! Things like him noticing Gin's actions and the reiastu in the badge. I also really liked his ability to sense reiatsu, it would be very interesting to see him explore his own level of reiatsu and start to comprehend its magnitude!

You really did wonderfully with fleshing out his background/past, that makes everything he does so much more understandable. I also really loved his interactions and interpretations of everyone. Kurotsuchi is rightfully creepy, and I was interested by his impression of Unohana and Toushiro; I'd definitely be curious to see them interact with Ichigo in the future. I also really liked how you dealt with the whole Shiba Kaien issue, especially how you had Ichigo go out and figure out what was going on himself and then work to fix it.

Telling the readers what happened to everyone else by Ichigo himself catching up after everything was perfect. It wouldn't have fit anywhere else in the story, but it worked perfectly where you put it. It was also great to see him look up Enzeru, I'm glad you didn't leave that out amongst all the other crazy things that were happening story wise. Having it began and end with her fit so well and gave the both stories a sense of connectivity and completion. I've really only included highlights of what I've enjoyed, but know there are many different pieces that I saw and was thrilled with. Well done! Thank you for all the hard work you have obviously put into this. It was very appreciated by me!

If you ever do decide to continue the series, I'll be there to read it. It's been great. Peace out.
Siggimondo chapter 9 . 7/13/2014
It's long. But then again, you already know that. It also happens to be really good, but that's not something new either.
Siggimondo chapter 8 . 7/13/2014
Yay, bankai D
Siggimondo chapter 7 . 7/13/2014
"ShutuppenisIhateyou" XD

First he talks to his sword, and now he talks to his "sword" XD

There was a lot of talking in this one. Talking is not an inherently bad thing though.
Siggimondo chapter 6 . 7/13/2014
Hate to repeat myself, but it needs to be said once more that this is way better than the visual version. Seeing as that seems to be the rule here, not the exception, you can just assume that I said so about the rest of the chapters as well, and I'll tell you when that ceases to be the case.

And now for something completely different: Strong women tend to be intimidating as a general rule. Yachiru is scary in a morbid, yet strangely innocent kind of way.
I wonder what her bankai would look like.
