it's really not an exaggeration to say this is one of, if not the best characterization of light i've ever read. you've really developed this character to the point where it's totally believable that he could really be in love with L and long to kill him at the same time. i usually don't live POV shifts that much for whatever reason, but you did a great job making each character's inner monologue distinct. in particular, you've really captured light's narcissism and grandiose thinking while subtly signaling to the reader that his opinions shouldn't be taken at face value. eg, i'm not sure which chapter it was (maybe even after this one?) where he thought about how sayu was never gonna be better than average & it grated on me bc disdain for the average person is honestly one of the most irritating things about DN & its fandom...but then you immediately undercut it with light thinking about how superior he is to all of humanity or something similar.

also i can't tell you how much i love your descriptions of light laughing! i find it so humanizing and endearing as though he's actually a real human teenager. laughter in one of the few genuine expressions of emotion light engages in in canon, so i really enjoy the idea that maybe he actually finds things funny and doesn't just laugh bc the text is trying to tell us he is mentally unstable.

dude, i'm not even a fan of light, just your interpretation! i am a fan of L and feel a bit more ambivalent on the way you've written him but it's definitely unlike any L i've read before. i hope he has some plot to turn things around soon, cuz playing house with kira is really fucked up and no sex could possibly be that good. yeah, yeah, love i get it, but them being happy together just feels like a giant fuck you to everyone light's murdered

I finished the Death Note anime, plan on reading the Manga as well, and went in search of a L/Light fic here on fanfiction. I read one or two but was never fully impressed...until I stumbled upon this delicious story.

With it being 31 chapters I was hoping it was a finished story, so I set about reading and became engulfed right away. Your style is very much it's own and I have to admit I rather enjoy how you hope around from scene to scene, back and forth within the timeline.

I know it has been two years since the last update, which is a bummer in another sense, but I still wanted to drop a comment to let you know that this fic has been a pleasure to read and I'm sure I'm not the only one holding onto a fragment of hope that one day you will get back to Nights and dazzle us with the conclusion a beautifully written fic like this deserves.

I'm pretty sure this has been said but let me tell you again that you have a very amazing writing style. i love it so much. i love all the imageries here. i love how you play with your words. my eyes are just glued and they cant get off them. loljk. this fic is so insane i always have to take a break from reading. plot wise, i love all the hullabaloo's of B"s shinigami eyes. it would really be interesting if B lives in canon DN. But i'd really love to see the real him, not just the copy cat L we've known him for. It's actually amazing how you've nicely sewn all the scattered scenes here and there. I loved Aiber and Wedy more than i had because of this. and i'd love to see more of Aiber/L/Wedy relationships (in which L is turned into a criminal sandwich.) The sex scenes are all awesome bec i love lawlight porn soft or hard. But the most memorable scene for me here is when L hugged Light, when he's just so tired and Light's like 'Are you hugging me?' then hugs him back. LawLight is just so beautiful. They're a disaster. They destroy and create one another. Anyway, i hope that in the future, you'll be able to pick this fic up again and write it until the end. I've enjoyed it nevertheless. i love you and thank you for creating this!

Ohmygosh this is an amazing story! Little bummed out that L doesn't really do anything yet, but I'm sure that'll change. I'm so thirsty for B and L's interactions later it's not even funny.

Shit. I wasn't expecting that.
I wasn't really expecting any of it really, which is probably why I've been nailed to this story for the past month and unable to get away from it. And I can't say would be a lie if I said this was the most incredible, most entertaining, most terrifyingly brilliant story I've ever read on this website - which really doesn't do much justice to it, but it's the best I can manage right now. And if you're willing to sit through a relatively long review, I'll try to justify everything a little better.
Not gonna lie, I was in it for the promise of major lawlight - plus it was on a list of must read death note fanfics I had been steadily working my way through. I have regretted and not regretted reading this in equal measures: I'm pretty sure you've ruined me for all other stories out there, and it's going to be a long, incredibly unproductive search for one as mind numbingly good as this. The relationships you created between them, as well as the characters themselves, are delightfully fucked up and gloriously twisted, and B is definitely a character I didn't know I needed in my life - BxL too, that messy, gruesome history is stunningly pulled off. The whole Matt/B/Wedy backstory was something I actually really looked forward to - basically any scene with B was fun as hell to read - to the point where I read simply for the interaction between those two/eventual-three, because it was just so good. Misa was devastating and wonderful in dizzying measures, and I loved her bitter, murderous, completely pure adoration for Light, which you wrote to perfection. And the lawlight, holy shit the lawlight, was so angry and passionate and I just loved the conflict and suffocating love (can't really decide if that's the right word in this situation - apparently L and Light can't either) that they struggled with.
And I'm sorry you got sick of your writing style. Honestly, I loved it. The language was incredible: it was disturbing and beautiful and almost surreal, yet brutally honest, and I hope that one day I'll be able to write as half as good as you did for this story.
I feel like this is my cue to shut up, even though I could probably rattle out some three thousand word essay on why I adored every second of this story (I won't, I promise). Sorry for the long review, don't worry about late updates - I'm just happy to have read it - and thank you, thank you, thank you. I've found my new favourite fanfiction.

I love your long chapters, something to sit and settle down with. It had been such a long time between updates awhile back, and now it's all coming back. Yours is one of the few stories where I am actually comfortable with liking Light, maybe because this Light actually has a murmuring awareness that he's an asshole sometimes. And of course I love your Beyond even though I cringe each time he comes back to life. Maybe this guy will do something to redeem himself, though I imagine he'll have to get himself extinguished in the bargain. Gaah! So many possibilities! I'll be waiting (semi) patiently for your next update!

You have no idea (or maybe you do?) how much this fic so far has changed my views so much. it's only the second chapter too, but my perspective on L and exactly how manilpulating he could be has changed dramatically, I can imagine and believe every despicable thing Light does, but -even knowing it's a ruse- L really does look so innocent but the way he tortured Misa was disgusting, how he plays with people's lives and decides whether he wants to look at another case, purely for entertainment. lmao sorry this was kinda long and pointing out the obvious: basically this fic is amazing thank you xx
