Wow, when you said that this chapter would be far darker than previous ones you weren't kidding!

I like the interactions between many of the campers (Solita/B, Dawn/Sadie/Nise, Izzy/Noah, Cody/Francisco, Giavanna/Damian and Nanon/Rob were the highlights for me).

I feel bad for Carlyle and Matthieu who had the least dignified deaths of the bunch so far... Chris and Jay were surprisingly noble in the face of Edward Hyde as was Staci and Courtney when taking on the Invisible Man.

I like Damian/Giavanna and Jay/Melody together but all signs are pointing to a Noah/Gia and Melody/Erebus pairing by the story's end. I only really dislike the latter because I believe Erebus deserves somebody better LOL.

So Francisco likes tan girls...maybe a particular tan girl...Courtney perhaps? I hope not since I think he deserves someone better as well...

As for the darkest piece of the story...Gwen can't catch a break! She seems to be a damsel in distress quite often despite being labeled a "strong goth". Cody is often her primary means of rescue... Somehow I get the feeling that Duncan won't be able to help her after this traumatic experience leaving a certain tech geek to take the knightly reins...

Overall this was very intense and I'm surprised that the group tackling the Martians have remained intact. I'm intrigued by the next installment!

You guys are BACK, Fantastic! :) I can't believe it has been around 7 months since the last update, but the wait is over! So, let's jump straight into the review! To start off, I like how, for the most part, this chapter focused on friendships and relationships, both old and new, between characters, both old and new. From Solita's one-sided conversation with B, to the interesting and tender discussion between Cody and Francisco, it was nice to really see the characters own unique stories taking shape. Izzy and Noah's heart to heart had to be my favorite part of this whole chapter. It really pulled at my heart strings. But at the same time, Nanon and Rob's talk was really sweet, and hints at a friendship ready to be made, or even something more. Mmmmm, I don't know which one I like more, The Feels! :)

On to something completely different, I find that my favorite character, Chris, is living up to his name of "The Enigma". I reread a few of the previous chapters, and I can honestly say, I have no idea what Chris is up to! Is he actually a crazed lunatic who wants nothing more than to have fun? Or is there something far deeper to his character? I am most definitely guessing the latter. The only theory I have about Chris is that he can somehow suppress his aura (maybe via his body suit?), and that he does this so even Dawn can't discover his true goals. But no matter what theories I have, YOU GUYS, the writers, are the ones in control. I'm just along for the ride (sounded cheesier than I thought, but oh well :)

Now, about the end . . . what the what!? I know you guys warned it was dark but damn, that was almost too dark for me. If not for the fact the evil deed was stopped right at the start, I may have skipped it. But now that you have explained the reason for the scenes inclusion, I am genuinely curious about the how all of this horror will affect not only Gwen, but anyone who died in the game. They may put up a bold front, but I bet some of them have new demons to add to their old ones. As Jay himself said "That got a little too really . . ."

And so I can end this review on a lighter note, the comedy aspect of this chapter was fantastic. My favorite comedic moment had to be Mathieu getting set on fire, and his topple out the window. Not only did it put a complete 180 on the tone of the scene, but Mathieu's dialogue and the dialogue between Duncan and the Invisible Man was fantastic :)
Also, just me wondering, but are any of you guy's taking inspiration from Evangelion's Asuke when it comes to Melody? Because Melody's last lines in this chapter after Jay's "death" had a very Asuke feel to them. Just curious. Well, all that's left to say is what I always say, excellent job, and I can't wait for the next chapter :)

I've have been reading this for a while and... I'm going to skip the formalities and say this fanfic is, in the words of the great Sue Sylvester, outstanding! I love how all of the OC's interact with the canons. My favorite OC's have to be Jay, Giavanna, Damien, Chris, and Greg. I do not dislike any of the OC's (I usually dislike/hate at least one.), and I think it's because they all feel so unique and they stand out. There ARE some I'm neutral on, like Joseph, Mary, and Solita, but they are still good characters. I also have to say Kevin is a much better host than Chris; he doesn't let his biases get in the way of the show. He has them, but they don't get in the way.

I also need to comment on the canons. You made Staci and Anne Maria have so much development here. They have more unique things about them, like Staci being one of the most badass swordsmen the show has seen. I also like how Scott and Alejandro at least got SOME sympathy from someone; they did not deserve what happened to them, and it was complete overkill to the highest degree. The pairings (DJ/Katie, Cody/Gwen, Jay/Melody/Erebus, and Noah/Gia/Damien?) are developing at such a realistic pace that it feels natural. I just love it!

About this chapter though, this was dark as f**k! I mean, my God, why did I read this at night?! I'm going to have some very vivid nightmares, so all I have to say is... well done! You've made the virtual world feel like an extension of the real world rather than some kind of dream-like state people are put it. I will say that Jay went out like a BOSS! And I feel so freaking sorry for Gwen; I hope she can recover. It will be hard, but with Cody and Greg by her side (I don't think Duncan will help all that much.) she'll be fine.

All three of you deserve pats on the back for writing such an awesome story. I eagerly await your next chapter. This is getting SO good...

This was a really solid chapter, man! Pretty much every single character was able to get a pretty significant amount of development in this chapter, and the Victorian era backdrop certainly served it's purpose. The ending was pretty dark, no doubt, but then again, we're dealing with one of the darkest characters in literary history, here. Overall well done, and absolutely worth the wait!

Great chapter. I love how all the character's are interacting. While the chapter is dark i think it's interesting you've chosen to go this way for the story. Though i do hope we will more light hearted chapter's again in the future.

Once again, another fantastic chapter! My favorite part of the whole chapter was when Chris when completely over the top with the "This is for..." lines while beating the wrong doctor, THAT WAS HILARIOUS! :) I must say, I am loving this chapter, mostly because of the classic monsters that appear in it. I will admit to not having read either the original "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" or "The Invisble Man", but I did know that neither is portrayed even remotely close to how they really are. After reading this, I really want to read the original stories! X3 I HAVE read "War of the Worlds", back when I was 10. I loved it then and I love it now, so I am really excited to see how Noah plans on exploiting their weakness. Keep writing you guys! :)

Org the majority of the Polygons by revealing the identity of the Invisible Man... I loved Courtney's statement about wanting to argue with Gwuncan but finding it hard with them taking different sides!

Noah surprisingly makes a great leader for the Avatars! I like how he fairly split his group and Izzy's gropefest was hilarious (along with the various reactions of the team members)!

The Invisible Man sounds very smart, sophisticated and scary. He'll be a force to be reckoned with...

The Cyborgs had an interesting idea in beating up the first doctor they came across. The subtle twist to come was done simply and cleverly.

The Polygons don't have as firm a grip of their situation as they'd hoped... But the Avatars have it far worse (all but Damian for obvious reasons) since they have the deadliest foe that not even Dawn can read... Justin deserved the twisted beating he got from Edward Hyde and the hunt seems to have gone the other way around for the Cyborgs! It's amusing that Carlyle was more terrified of his beloved movies lying to him than of the creature itself...

All of the foes sound tough to beat (especially with Hyde's newly gained keen sense of smell) and I look forward to seeing how each attempt plays out for each team!

I like that we're slowly getting to know Jay as a person so that he doesn't come across as the "average reality show villain". Rob's determination to help him as well as Joseph and Dawn sensing a disturbance in their chosen beliefs demonstrates how he can directly and indirectly impact those around him...

Erebus definitely brings out Melody's softer side in a way that no guy on previous seasons could engage her older sister... It's quite touching...

Nanon, Chris and Carlyle have the neatest friendship! Others may avoid them for their quirks but they have found great common ground in each other! Carlyle's triple whammy of movie references in one confessional was also epic!

Harold's answering my question in my previous review cleared things up well regarding Duncan's treatment. Gwen also seems lost in her relationship with him though seeing Cody try to talk to her like a normal person and not a creepy crush was refreshing.

The Damian/Gia/Noah triangle is reaching more equal ground and at this rate, Noah may miss any opportunity to be with her by prematurely excluding any chance in hell. Damian appears to be the more confident of the two.

Courtney's appearance was shocking, as was the impromptu martial arts match between her and Gwen. Francisco hit the nail on the head regarding his assessment of her! Hopefully she never gets on Ari's bad side though (or would that be just what she needs?).

The virtual reality machine was incontrast a pleasant surprise and of course Izzy would be the contrarian and be unphased by the reveal LOL. The Avatars already sound like they're at a disadvantage in dealing with their foes since there are so many while the Polygons and Cyborgs have a single enemy... But at least Kevin is willing to answer everybody's questions and not ignore them the way Chris did...

Onward to the next chapter...

I'mmm Baaaaccckkkk! I finally found some free time to get back to fanfiction :) And what do I see, not 1 but 2 new chapters to TD:What Is Real? Awesome! You guys have really been working hard! Well then, onto the review!
First of all, Rob definitely seems serious in his intent of changing Jay for the better. HOPEfully he has sum form of success with this task. I really liked the conversation between Carlyle, Nanon, and Chris. It was a nice way to show the begin of what looks to be a great friendship :) On the other end of the emotional spectrum, Courtney's return doesn't appear to be helping anything other than her thirst for vengeance. Wonder who will help her out with that?
