This is truly funny, especially when one considers that most jokes about packing are directed at overly fussy folk. That said, I generally wind up in trouble over the ONE book department. (I once tried sneaking some extras in with my clothes and my mother was not impressed).

This was hysterical. Partly because my sister and I are like Fili and Kili. (Half of my suitcase is filled with her stuff most of the time.) And partly because Fili and Kili are always adorable. Loved the Ri brothers. And how Bombur packed food.

This really is brilliant, and spot-on! I'm currently living abroad for a year, and I went through exactly the same experience when packing my life into one suitcase
I especially loved Fili and Kili's part - "If I leave behind my axes, I know that before we even get past the mountains, I'll have had cause to regret it. But if I take the axes and leave the war hammer, then I know that I'll end up regretting it, too" just perfect!

Bombur's bit had me laughing. Loved this!

I loved it! So cute. :) You did a great job keeping everyone in character, too. I loved it all, but I think one of my favorite parts may be Bombur's bag bursting and him humbly stating he'd get back to packing. Definitely favoriting. Thanks for sharing.

I get the feeling that Fili and Kili will be ten minutes on the road when Kili realises his pack is still at the house. This was hilarious - I love the way you write everybody.

I agree with Fili, I most certainly agree with Fili, it's impossible to forget the knives, they are far to important. ;) I'm a scout, and I don't think I've ever packed less than a dozen knives for a camp, and you need your axe and such too. ;)

I like the idea very much, and it's very well written, though I admit I laughed over the fact that it was a herculean effort, I had no idea that Hercules was well known in middle earth... ;) But that's just a laugh and not really a mmistake or anything. ;)

Aw, that was fun! Poor guys, I really do understand how hard it is to do the packing!.. Always have to jump on my suitcases to close them:))
I remember in the movie Kili had quite a lot of luggage to carry too, and after this story I'm starting to wonder how come he ended up so loaded with bags!.. Was he carrying stuff for Thorin?:) Or maybe Ori talked Kili into taking 'Dwarven Genealogy' and some other mighty important books for him?:))

Funny, maybe you should do all of the dwarves, but that is your choice.
