I know this story is ancient, but I got that mythology reference and I am psyched!

Also, while I'm talking to someone who knows their comparative mythology, holy shit does Apollo have an identity crisis when you start talking history. So he's Aplu Enlil who is Apollon/Apollo, but who was also syncretized with Resheph who is Shed who is Horus who is Horus-Ra who is Amun-Ra, and who was ALSO syncretized with Mithra/Mithras and possibly even Maitreya, the next Buddha. Then you get Varuna-Aditya, who's weird Apollo/Poseidon territory, and both are aspects of Vishnu. AND THEN by geography and iconography he's aligned with the *Archangel Michael.* That last one is interesting, since Apollo is also Resheph, mentioned in the Bible, probably as a demon.

I have to wonder how all this works in the PJO universe. Is Apollo just… secretly absurdly powerful (since he doesn't seem to have identity crises like the others)? Zeus probably comes out on top, though, his cult as Zeus Sabazios having been integrated into a YHWH cult and worshipped as YHWH by the Hypsistarians for hundreds of years.… although Poseidon, if we consider him to have adequate connections to Varuna, gets definite Vishnu powers, possibly iconographic Shiva powers (the trident), and Supreme God Amenominakanushi powers via Varuna/Suiten.
