I read through the entire book in a day, and whew! Gotta say, that was an awesome ride! I hope that you are doing well in the recent rough times. Seeing as there aren't many updates as of 2020, I do get worried that many authors are having troubles from the pandemics. I truly hope for the best of you and all the other fantastic writers.
As for my review on the book itself, I love the character depth you gave to Caedron and the main cast. The parental roles you gave to Marianne and Charles was a bit bizarre for me to swallow at first, but it worked out. The twisted ways in which parents 'care' for their children can be seen both in fiction and reality, though definitely not a representation of the norm. I personally felt that it was a bit rushed towards the end of the book, but it's understandable considering there were lots going on in the small time frame.

I so wanted someone in the Black Knights to respond to the briefing like "Let's summarize. They have a super strategist, a 7-th generation Knightmare piloted by a Rounds-level Ace, and a well-trained army of mixed origins working as a cohesive efficient unit. So basically we're fighting ourselves."

Let's start with my favourite scenes. The war against China and the air warfare portrayed a grand scale to the front. Zero-Kallen finally gets a chance to shine while working with Lelouch here, surprising the enemy and winning the day.

Overall, in the story, there is good detail with multiple different characters. I ended up liking your original characters the most, but the Code Geass characters all added to the story in creative ways.

Euphie having her own agency for her plans is a nice change of pace. Suzuki is a good counterweight for her.

I find Charles very cute in this story. A warm-hearted father-figure when it comes to Lelouch and Cornelia.

Caedron and his shadows are written with a certain intellect and that's come with a satisfying level of intimidation that suits their roles perfectly. I enjoyed reading his thoughts through his campaign and am sad that he is gone.

Ariadne, the nephew of Caedron is a joy to read. Her dedication to her work and the conflict it causes her with Caedron is good drama.

What I take away from Ice and Fire.

For Kallen, she fails to adapt her worldview fast enough and her plans end up falling apart when the inevitability of Caedron's death hits her.

Lelouch's naivety in love and failure to be honest with Kallen results in his own plans failing, and the people he loves, paying for it.

As a society Rebellion story it takes the actions on a diverse range of people to stand up against oppression, and success can be undermined quickly. The Japanese do achieve a better standing but are not free of Britannia. The silver lining is that this is still enough to inspire changes in other Areas.

Wow. Caedron is an asshole. I know you probably have some grand tragic plan for him and he has those soft moments with Kallen, but man what an asshole. Shocking out one of our main characters and physically abusing the other. I get that your indicating he's strict and desires to protect Kallen. But I fear your writing is leaning more towards abusive and manipulative. Much like how some authors try to write romance but instead come off as stalkerish and misogynistic.
Where does this OC get off coming into this awesome anime, hurting our favourite girls and I'm going to guess being placed on the same pedestal as Lelouch in terms of intellect. So far, he's not winning me over.

Not gonna lie, that intro kinda sucks the agency out of Kallen. In the original, Zero was a symbol built piece by piece by Lelouch and representing his ideals. Here it just a disguise. If all credit is ascribed to some character we never heard of before, then where's the merit of this what if story of saying Kallen is Zero. Heck it actually doesn't make sense why Caedron isn't Zero. He's more physically imposing, actually a man and has no apparent qualms about fighting Britannia if he willingly fights and provides devastating strategy.

It would've made more sense if Kallen had different but good plans that just needed to be ironed out by a very reluctant Caedron. As it stands, Kallen just puts on a mask and has an idea. You don't really get the epic scale of Zero the man who makes miracles in this sense.

Mary sue OCs and Lelouch is a background character. This isn't a code geass fic. Don't bother wasting your time reading it

okay, while i'm still a bit miffed about cause and effect and plausibility giving way to foreshadowing and drama, the characters, the emotions and the vibes of most scenes were fantastic. while I felt somewhat let down through some parts, now that i'm at the end I have no regrets. Thanks for a great read!

As I was reading this story up to this point I was listening to some Thousand Foot Krutch and 2 songs from them I feel like fit very well for how both Kallen and Lelouch feel about each other. The first song “Take it out on me” I feel like fits Lelouch with how he’s trying to get Kallen to open up but she has so much trauma in her life she just doesn’t feel like she can.

The second song “Scream” I feel like can be heard from both of their perspectives or as if they’re talking with each other I won’t put the whole lyrics to the song but I feel like if you think of this song that way Lelouch would definitely say this part to Kallen.

Give these songs a listen while reading this I think they definitely fit this story.

It gets me pissed when lelouch doesn't get some power meant for him. But I guess that's just my own pettiness.

You know, I didn't like how the "specially administrated zone" was handled in Code Geass, and I'm disappointed to see the parts I disliked echoed here, as well. Everyone just started acting crazy.

Kallen is going to tell the Noppera-bo that Lelouch has betrayed his word and 'attacked' them by fulfilling his pledge and giving them what they wanted? That's not damage control, that's guaranteed to split your organization between two factions: the gullible followers and the people able to smell bullshit. In a rational world, half the Noppera-bo will start thinking that Zero is just as corrupt as the JLF, who were defeated less than a month ago.

Kallen has a point about not being warned, but this is hardly the betrayal of the century. She should just do exactly what Lelouch should have done in canon: Accept the offer, and then tell the troops that they will remain on guard against treachery.

Euphie's plan won't kill the Noppera-bo overnight. It will starve them over a couple years. That's a couple YEARS to calmly work out a plan. But no. Instead, everyone needs to irrationally flip out.
