goodbye my love chapter 1 . 6/3/2018 Really nicely written |
Loafer chapter 1 . 6/2/2013 R.I.P. Allan Arbus: Sidney was a remarkable character indeed. |
ReidAndLukeFanForever chapter 1 . 5/5/2013 Great one shot Melinda. Melinda, you wrote a beautiful tribute to Allan Arbus and his character of Sidney on the TV M*A*S*H. |
LexietFive chapter 1 . 5/4/2013 Brilliant tribute to both Sidney and Allan Arbus. Totally fitting. |
jessie 33 chapter 1 . 5/3/2013 Wonderful one shot very well written. Nice Tribute to Allan Arbus. |
Xenite Trekker chapter 1 . 4/29/2013 I found this story after finding out about Allan Arbus' passing and after i had just re-watched the M*A*S*H episode "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen". At the same time this story makes a good tribute and post-episode follow-up. By the way, I noticed there was no mention of Frank in the letter, but I figured Hawkeye would have omitted any mention of him on purpose :-) |
T-man626 chapter 1 . 4/28/2013 A beautiful tribute to the actor (Allan) and character (Sidney). You captured Hawkeye's voice perfectly. Well done. |
Requiem of memory chapter 1 . 4/28/2013 This is absolutly amazing...as i'm reading, I could hear Hawkeye's voice as I read it. Words can't describe the sadness I felt when my boyfriend told me Allan Arbus had passed. Sidney was a gentle but firm, understanding but at the same time ignorant (uninformed) complicated man. He listend and actually heard what the person he was helping had to say. A gentle voice among the bitter cries of a war ravaged land, calling the men and women sick-of-mind home. Back to who they are. If he wasn't in M*A*S*H it wouldn't have been the same... Rest in peace Allan Arbus Aka: Sidney Freedman. You will be missed by many, and loved by all the people who watched M*A*S*H... "So hard to find a cab in this part of the war" - Sidney Freedman to "Hawkeye" Peirce...Well Sidney (Allan) You've found your cab and are in for one hellava good ride! Rest In Peace. |
B.A. Tyler chapter 1 . 4/26/2013 Very nice tribute to Mr. Arbus. This is especially a great observation: "You never once criticized me or judged me for my behavior. Instead you pushed, prodded, and tugged at my soul, which I now see it as your way of saving it." Sidney was a unique, gentle, and wise character, and played so, so well by Mr. Arbus. Thanks for this story. |
PBIceCream chapter 1 . 4/26/2013 That was just lovely, and a tad bittersweet considering recent events. Sidney was one of my favorite recurring characters, and you did a great job with this story, thank you! "Take my advice: Pull down your pants, and slide on the ice." |
SpangleyPony chapter 1 . 4/25/2013 Really great writing :-) |
cmee57 chapter 1 . 4/25/2013 This letter from Hawkeye to Sidney is a beautiful tribute! Well done and very moving. |
Kristen3 chapter 1 . 4/24/2013 I am amazed that you not only took my suggestion, but did it so quickly! I'm so glad you wrote this, rather than me trying to. There's no way I could've done Sidney justice as you have here. I'm glad you included The Incident, because that was a huge part of Hawkeye and Sidney's relationship. And I'm certain Hawk would never forget it, or the way Sidney came to his rescue afterward. Congrats on a wonderful story! :) |
