I was always so mad about Susan and how liking lipstick meant she could never get into Narnia again, so I love this! I love how she loves it dearly but she pushes it all away to survive, and you've made it absolutely heartbreaking how she manages it. Lovely fic.

This is an excellent view of how Susan came to be the way she came to be... similar to many other accounts that place the change to America, but this seems to me to make the transition more clear.
You make a good point in showing she would have seen no use in this world for her traits that were useful in Narnia, and then ultimately only using them to comfort herself (while her siblings apparently go on to try and use their traits for the good of others). If her siblings use their wits and abilities, and she uses her outward appearance instead of her inner gentleness, that break in values must inevitably come one day.
Most importantly, it made me think about her transition once more, and make my own theories following up on yours. That, I believe, is a good thing for a writer to achieve. :-)

I love Susan fics just because of what they are, but this one stood apart. I love the fact that, while several that I have read deal in generalities, yours deals in details. The dances, the trinkets, the stockings... Fantastic. And My God, the line about how she should be planning for the future, not thinking about the past? Beautiful. Good work!
