Awesome story here, especially for Mother's Day! Now how is it that this awesome wasn't released by Mother's Day last year since the mother-daughter relationship is the major theme of the film? Anyway, this whole story between them is great because I'd love to see and read story ideas of what happens to them after the film's plot. I know that their relationship would be much better, especially with communication, but I kind of think that Merida might feel that the whole situation is her fault and try to take the blame. But luckily, Elinor can help her see that they both played a part in this, and by now they're both mature enough to admit that they made mistakes and aren't perfect women.

That's a good reason why Elinor decided to break that tradition. :) But I think it's also because she finally understood Merida and felt sorry for her, and realized just how much she hadn't listened to her own needs and desires. I guess Elinor felt that she worked so hard at being a good queen that she forgot how to be a good mother, rather than teacher to a princess, to her daughter. I know that in all, Elinor is very proud of Merida for how she changed since before the spell, and has accepted the fact that Merida does not need to be exactly like her in order to be a good queen or a woman. After seeing how Merida brought the clans back together, she has no doubt that Merida will become a great queen of DunBroch one day, strong in all ways! :D

Really nice story, man. :)
