I wasn’t sure how I felt about an Adelle/Alpha pairing but an 18,000 word one shot was impossible to pass up. I really enjoyed it. As someone who is equally as obsessed with Firefly and I am with Dollhouse, I appreciated the light sprinkle of references

I love this story, this is my favorite Dollhouse fic. I seriously haven't found a story in this fandom that I like more. I never thought a romance between Adelle and Alpha would ever work, but your story has changed my mind. Thank you for writing such a great story, have a lovely day!

I was shocked at how AWESOME this story was. Alpha/Adelle? That's crazy! But it worked so amazingly well. You managed to capture the complex characters beautifully and you're a talented writer. I just finished reading it for the second time and I've fallen even more in love with it. Thanks for writing a wonderful Dollhouse fanfic :)

Excellent story-this is the first Dollhouse fic I've read, and I loved it. Your development of the post-Thoughtpocalypse world is wonderful. I liked the character interactions. Thank you for writing this and sharing it.

Utterly marvelous. I read it carefully over the space of two days, taking my time because I didn't want it to end.

My favorite things:

-That beautiful title.

-It would have been so easy to go off the deep end with Topher. When people write characters with broken minds, they tend to just fling a lot of gibberish dialogue at the wall to see what sticks. With Topher, it's pretty clear in the short time we get to see future-him in the show that his genius isn't gone, that it's expanded to a different level. That level makes no sense to anyone outside of his brain, but that there's still an internal logic there, even if he's collapsing beneath it. Therefore, his words should mean something, even if they're cryptic. Your portrayal of him is so wonderful and respectful in that regard.

-Alpha's slow, delightfully unrepentant transition from straight-up psycho to "lapsed." Writing someone with fifty personalities in his head can't be easy on its own, let alone writing him at a time when he's changing into something significantly different. You did it wonderfully, all while maintaining his characteristic punchy voice. BraVO.

-It would be so easy to vilify Paul, Echo, and Dominic. You don't. Well, Dominic a little bit here and there, but he IS a sketchy fella and this IS from the perspective of yet another man nursing a -cough- little thing for Adelle, so he doesn't count. Your characterization in general was perfect, really.

-"'I don't like that word,' he mutters back. 'This is reconnaissance.'" Along with pretty much every other line he speaks.

-Adelle's characterization is flawless. I particularly like watching Alpha watch her; the regard he has for her almost from the beginning warms my heart (this is ALPHA warming my heart; I'm aware of the irony), but her POV is equally touching, especially in its repentance.

-The pacing is beautiful. Slow burn, indeed. I got chills when they finally DID something about it. Well, tried, anyway. Don't worry about your depiction of intimacy- it's spot-on. You captured passion without being too intrusive, which would have felt odd given the style and nature of the piece.

-A glimpse of post-Epitaph 2 and some CLOSURE, ugh, THANK YOU.

Thank you in general, really. Alpha might well be my favorite character in the series (that's a tough call to make, but I'm pretty sure it's him) and there are so few stories out there focused on him- fewer still that depict him with any degree of accuracy. This was a gift and I appreciate it so much.

I love how well developed the story is, given the incredible gaps in the original series necessitated by its swift cancellation. It's nice and tidy, but exciting and emotional at the same time. You took on an ambitious project here and it paid off. Well done.
