This is a fucking masterpiece. I'm a recent EVA convert, and was left feeling somewhat cold by rebuild 3.33. Honestly I just hope 3.01.0 is half as satisfying a conclusion as this! Hats off to you. Stellar fucking work.

Really one of the best Fanfics I've ever read, if not the best of all, you left a little foot for a possible Shinji / Asuka pairing, as it seems that this is the path you wanted to follow but decided to leave the path open for the interpretation of the reader , your story would make a great Evangelion movie, have you thought about writing another one?

I just read the first chapter, and I wanted to ask, who do you guys think is wrong? So far, while Shinji may seem like the black sheep here, asuka thinks she’s right because of her emotions. Shinji, indeed, did not ask for this, and Kaworu and Rei were truly the only ones who showed him compassion and kindness to a degree that didn’t stem from a need to pilot the Eva. Maybe I’m wrong about this, but while Shinji should “atone for his incompetence”, I’d like to see Asuka in the same circumstance. Please let me know how wrong I am or what you think

Pure brilliance. That's all I really have to say. Characterization, plot, dialogue, description, pacing, tone, even the spelling and grammar - perfect. This should be required reading for anyone thinking of writing an Evangelion fic. Thanks for sharing your gifts with all of us.

This was a very good take on a sequel for 3.33 and now I'm left anticipating what 3.01.0 has in store as the official conclusion to the RoE movies. A top tier Evangelion fic for any Rebuild fan.

With so many EVA stories saved in my backlog i had passed this one a few times. Im very happy i decided to start this story. I dont think theres enough post 3.33 stories on this website, And oddly enough those stories tend to be my favorite. They all seem to have such varying perspectives. This was an excellent read that balanced action with dialogue, with funny and heartwarming moments throughout. I appreciate the read and dedication to finish something you started!

To be honest chapter 14 infuriated me.

Despite the lack of action in this story. I'll have to admit this is the closest thing I can picture happening in the next Rebuild of Evangelion. However, knowing Anno, the next movie probably be even darker than this. A LOT darker. For all, we know Shinji might not even work for Wille. Hell, Shinji might try to escape Wille and try to make his own bath. Which is something I want to see.

As long as anyone could remember in the Evangelion franchise. Every decision Shinji has ever made was by somebody else.

I don't even think Kaji would even work for Wille ether do to the fact that he used to work for Seele if I'm not mistaken. Although I CAN picture Kaji running some kind of sanctuary for civilians who were affected by the third impact.

Not to spoil anything for Evangelion 3.01.0, Although I would recommend people to not read this but I do believe ether Shinji is the only one who is gonna make out of this alive or he might sacrifice himself by choice to save the world.

The Manga of Neon Genesis ended with Shinji ending up in a deferent world where Evas and Angels never existed. That could happen too.

Great story though one thing I don't understand is that in 2.0 post credits scene, Kaworu stopped Eva 01 and Impact with the spear. There everything was normal , no red wasteland anything, Misato and Ritsuko were standing right there. So how did things end up so bad in 3.0?

Kaworu's Eva was also seen fused with Lilith with 12th angel inside. I wonder if he's the one caused the 3rd Impact while everyone thinks Shinji did?

Well, this is a 2013 story and I really doubt my thoughts would be ever read by anyone... But here it goes anyway. I've just finished reading and it was a real blast. Of course, it does create and defy a lot of Eva "universe rules", but considering how the rebuilds did the same (in the movies one can start an impact just like you change clothes) I didn't really mind too much. Some of the character arcs had to be rushed and resolved quite quickly, but it was understandable - otherwise this would have to reach at least 200k words and could have the risk of feeling dragged.

There are only a few things that I'd rather have preferred to end differently, though... Firstly, I think the story wasted a opportunity to create an actual character on Mari. Her existence on the Rebuild movies were very questioned because she is a simple Sue placed for no reason. The fic managed to give her a goal, going against Misato and Asuka for a moment, but it forgot to give her any real flaws...

And to be really honest, the course of actions leading to unresolved love triangle was a little uncanny to me to digest... One could swear that the way for a Rei romance was easy clean way in the rebuild universe, but then...

... Suddenly you decide to reveal that Asuka was hiding her pain and grief for 11 years after his disappearance, she also steps up to pretty much confess to him and explain her motivations, and then later on, the final battle has her crying and suffering in a heartbreaking scene that felt so much from the old 1998 movie iArmageddon/i that I could even mentally hear iSteven Tyler/i singing the theme of the film in my head. And it is also revealed that after his 'death' she fell in a depressive state for the next three years.

...So, damn, it feels quite cruel to the character to get through all this pain, to have him back from the dead... just to be possibly together with Rei in the end and not her. Sure, her speech about having faith on him was pretty cool and did show a lot of growth, but realistically speaking, as the story heavily implied, the next moment Rei feels like doing an advance again, he will certainly not resist. Well, I guess life is certainly cruel sometimes even in the intended happy ending, hehehe.

So freaking good, such a satisfying conclusion

best Evangelion story ever! the parts with rei were just amazing (her transformations and subsequent personality changes) and how you kept everyone in charakter , this story is a piece of art.

A 2013 story. Wow. So long ago now. I just finished it and it was pleasing enough. I mean sure it kind of sucked to enjoy something that is so similar to an actual show, so thorough and detailed in its interactions and sequence of events, but at the same time so methodically spaced out and natural in relation to the relationships (nice way of saying that the damn romance didn't really get anywhere).

I mean ofcourse its just me, I only really come for the romance primarily. Either way I enjoyed this great read. I found it really refreshing to read a post Third-Impact story from the 3.33 universe. To be honest it's quite a feat you pulled off, this fic is so extremely detailed it's practically a script. I admire your passion and depth and I really believe it's a skill and gift.

Now as much praise I have for you and your story (and my subdued resignation over the plot for the romance), I just have to critique about the actual story construction. Listen, you have a gift and you obviously put a lot of passion into this so I don't want to take away from it, but nothing is ever perfect. In my opinion I find this critique to be minor, it's not like it ruined the story for me, but I find it in your best interest to know that a lot of the paragraphs throughout your entire story were much too long.

Now look I understand that each and every paragraph that was longer than 5 lines was always full of detail and plot, but we gotta pull out our inner Ritsuko and look at the facts: A good read is more than its contents. Like I said, whenever I put the effort to read the long paragraphs I did in fact find it rich in detail and imagery, and that's a good thing because that's your gift. The fact of the matter is just that it's much too exhausting.

Now let me tell you that anyone intelligent will take your long paragraphs ANY DAY that having to deal with with run-on sentences that go on for more than 2 lines. I mean nothing is more upsetting than having to read through middle-school level grammar skills. Like I said originally though, nothing is perfect and I definitely find it my pleasure to pass on this constructive criticism for your greater benefit.

I don't want you to think that compressing your paragraphs (and thus, your story) is an act of masking, diluting or even reducing your skill as a writer. Quite the opposite really. It's a skill as any other and I definitely think that learning to project the imagery and plot in your story with paragraphs no bigger than 4-5 lines will make your story a bliss to read (given your gift of having pretty much everything else mastered, from grammar to the actual story plot creation).

This story is just what I needed as I fell on another "3.0 1.0 never ever relapse". I believe the characters don't stray from their personality and are well adapted. The conclusion is acceptable, and it even panders more to Asuka in my opinion so I approve of it.

Sadly if we do get a real conclusion to Rebuild it will probably not be close to this ending by the simple fact that it is happy. Either way I really enjoyed it so props!

I wonder if Shinji and Rei has same blood relation of mother Yui, it seems they are siblings more than a cousin. In Asian societies, cousins means if the mothers/fathers are sisters/brothers, their children call each other “cousin “, because their mothers/fathers have same blood relation; if they have same blood realtion from mother, it means they are siblings. But anyway, thank you for your efforts and I hope you can write more Eva fictions!
