Okay first his attempts to go away from the romantic situation were good but later it became repetitive and boring. Moreover, his attitude also rubs me the wrong way. Your idea of adding another self-insert has merits but more or less those fics rarely do end well.

While I do like God slaying blade works, I'd love to see more of this story in the future.

It's a shame the story died here, it was a rather well written self insert that did interesting things with the ZnT universe, but if you reword the ending a little in your head, maybe switch some events around a little, then it kind of reads like a sort of "end of book 1" situation. Makes it palatable, but no less disappointing that it's been three coming on four years with no "book 2" in sight, but such is the nature of fanfiction posted by the chapter.
