This is a very good story so far. I really like it. There is a lot of potential for this story.

You wrote a really good beginning but I also would have written the final space battle instead of fast forwarding it to James and John in a Pelican afterwards, or maybe there will be a recap in following?

Let me point out one thing for your writing that anyone with a military background would see as a slight/insult though.

In the section that said: "I have to admit Petty Officer, I am impressed" the AI said cheerfully to the junior Spartan"

This would be a grievous breach of rank to call an U.S Navy or USNC E-8 a Petty Officer. James in this writing of yours is a Senior Spartan in terms of rank.

From E-4 to E-6 this is the correct usage of rank (aka Petty Officer). From E-7 through E-9 you would never call a senior enlisted "Petty Officer or a junior Spartan". An E-7 is a Chief Petty Officer, E-8 is a Senior Chief Petty Officer, and E-9 as you know is an Master Chief Petty Officer. The correct short name to refer to these ranks are: E-7 Chief, E-8 Senior Chief, E-9 Master Chief.

Basically Cortana just called James a junior enlisted rank. This would be like calling a Doctor, "Mister". It is a grievous insult to the rank and the service. Not that you were aiming for that but that is what was written.

Conversely, Walter in the USAF is a "Chief" but in this case he is a Chief Master Sergeant E-9 which means in terms of rank, Walter on Stargate is equal rank to Spartan 117, Master Chief in rank.

Good story, though I did skip most of the Halo stuff that rehashes the books and games. Hope you continue it.

What a horrible way to write. Good plot aside, i copy pasted only the sections i read, and the story is barely 2.5 chapters long. The rest being taken up by what i can only describe as the textual representation of one's brain melting.

Perhaps it's a good thing this story is dead because otherwise i'd feel compelled to read the rest, which would only make the good part of it feel bad.

Please dont be another dead fic, i want closure for once. Reading so many awesome fics but always knowing that it wont have a proper end just sucks.

Thus ends one of the greatest Halo fics I've read, I ABSOLUTELY cannot wait till we get the next chapter, I'm so excited! This really is a masterwork I hope to be able to emulate with my own crossover, keeping such a good tone and pacing for it.

Still the tide turns and even with that Covenant Fleet destroyed the next one coming from First Strike we will be ready and have our new ships as I suspect Frigates take a month to build while setting up a subspace relay as Odyssey can make the trip too and from Earth to set up a sub space relay at least.

At least with the ODPs complete use that production to replenish Reach's ODP network with spares from Earth's reserves as the Shipyards at Earth, Mars, Tribute and Reach spam as many ships and crews formed likely some officers getting there own ships since a lot survive Reach.

While building a few spare Mark 9s for the next time.

While new missiles built for several longsword Squadrons with shield modulars to engage any ships that jump inside the defense perimeter.

I was thinking there might be way to solve the Odyssey synthesizer power demands if we plug the orbital defense generators into the system that could make up for it then use beaming to beam produce materials to for special use.

One thing I think the UNSC already had the Strident class Heavy Frigate planned to carry shields with a few mods these Stridents built in vast numbers could turn the tide of the war as all set to go and fully dedicated to space combat unlike the other Frigate classes but considering to what the UNSC needs right now as squadrons sent to reinforce every front and from there hold on to what they have so can build up the Navy again.

I wonder why not just promote Master Chief to Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) after all pride and symbol of the Navy the Master Chief of the Master Chiefs then.

Glad to see Keyes get his stars with the victory here and new crews rushing out new ships and task forces being marshalled let alone the successes of the Halcyon refit or Autumn class in the last battle approve for general refit bring at least a few dozen Light Cruisers to replenish the badly depleted Cruiser ranks back to 50 strong Cruisers out at least and Halcyons no longer a joke.

Great story. I especially like the way you describe things in unneeded but very entertaining detail. Now about the second half of it... get to it.
