This was lovely, so well-written! I actually started leaning towards this pairing at the end of the series,
and you described Ginoza's feelings so well! I love how you integrate all the little things in their lives, from the hues to the crime coefficients to their positions as inspectors and "hounds"...GAHHH SO AMAZING, lovely job.

This story leaves me with such a bittersweet feeling. It's heartbreaking and harsh in a soft way, like wrapping up all the cruel truths of this ship in cloth so I don't feel it as painfully when it hits me. But it still hurts. And then at the end it sort of clumsily mends my broken heart with a bit of hope and a lot of tenderness. At least, that's how I feel when I read through it.

There's lots of description in this, plenty to let me imagine everything and feel along with Ginoza. It's a really enjoyable way to read the story, though it couldn't have been easy. The run-on sentences and repetition helps a lot with that and it really sucks me right into the setting along with the characters.

I love how Ginoza gradually opens up to Akane, even if at first he's prickly about it. Especially with the part where he brushes his hair out of his eyes for her, it's just like him to pretend it wasn't for her and it made me smile a bit through all the heartbreak. That last conversation about Kougami is blunt and it felt like they really needed it, so it was great that they had it when they did. And aww, it's definitely healing how they fall together so perfectly, like they were always that way.

Finally, the last line deserves praise all of its own. It's a brilliant throwback to his days growing up alone and fending for himself, and how he's changed. It's perfect. It nails what he always needed, knew he needed, and now has. It's the final stitch that gets my heart functioning again.

tl;dr this is an emotionally fulfilling piece for my otp, and I feel so content after reading this, I just had to let you know how much I love it.
