I'm loving this story! I love This Rei and Gendo moments! I love everything!

So I could probably Analyse over how and why this fic is incredible but I'll just say this to the author instead: thank you.

Yeah, this is where I call it quits.

Your rewriting of Gendo as anything less than a sociopathic manipulator is what has ended my interest in this.

He would never acknowledge Shinji or Rei as anything other than being tools and if Rei showed any sign of defiance he would replace her with a fresh clone.

The premise behind this story was what draw me to this story but the execution was lacking and asking for the readers to disregard - without explanation - in order to enjoy.

I really think you should've started at the divergence you mentioned rather than just skip to the battle with the 16th angel.

The reason I say that is that Shinji is acting out of character and the basis for this is not shown so there is a suspension of disbelief being requested, and while such is asked often in other fics it usually after the author has established how their story is different than canon.

He (Shinji) is acting out of character by being assertive in his attempts to be near Rei and constantly arguing with others who try to make him follow simple hospital guidelines. That isn't how the Shinji we all know from the series is; he is practically spineless unless forced to act, far too timid to assert anything he may want and cowardly.

Needless to say, that is not the Shinji we are being shown here and we are not being given a glimpse into the metamorphosis into what you are showing him as now. You are merely telling us "Different stuff happened and now we are here. Accept it." rather than leading us along (by WRITING this 'different stuff') and allowing us - the readers - to experience it first hand and thus add credibility to your alterations of canon.

If you were to go back and add that missing content, this would be far better than it is.

Otherwise, all I can say is that this is a slightly cringe inducing start.

I'm not sure if you get this or not anymore (seeing how long it's been since ch 36 was uploaded), but I remember the epilogue being on your old site. I went to , and found a backup, but alas...no epilogue. It would be awesome if you uploaded it here :)

Ugh. The constant language shift is both jarring and extremely unprofessional. Write in one language and keep it that way; it makes the narrative flow better and stay engaging. Some can tolerate it. I, however, can not.

The story was alright, I suppose, but damn is that annoying.

Jeebus Crikie. I know Asuka's aggressive, but... damn... I hope this fic doesn't venture too far into bashing territory, but we'll see. As for the rest of the chapter, the dialogue was a bit OOC, again, but that's not really an issue. There were a couple times when I buried my face into my blankets and muttered 'shut up shut up shut up' over and over again, but those instances were thankfully few and far between.

Work on your dialogue, as well as maintaining character, as for the rest of it, it's alright so far.

...I'm sorry. I'm so, so, so damn sorry. Just, that part got to me really badly... good chapter though. Ayanami seemed kinda OOC, but to be honest, I think this is a fairly supported development. She did nearly die and all, and that may or may not have sparked some sort of reaction in her.

Now I know that you planed on having an epilogue but given how long its been since its last update I won't hold my breath. Not to say that is a bad thing no you've written an amazing story that I feel stayed true to the series and allowed you to put your own spin on things. Honestly I'm not sure that it even needs an epilogue because in my point of view the ending is perfect already. So let me just say that it was a great pleasure to read your story and now to make this ending perfect I plan on ending this by listening to Fly Me To The Moon

Back when i was in high school i read this and followed her site until it was shut down. I had every chapter saved including the epilogue but lost it all in a hd crash a few years ago. This is a great story wish we could get a hold of the author to see if she still has the ending.
