I think the power scaling problem is less that they are portraying the Touhou characters as weak and more so that the are potraying the DC characters as stupidly strong

This is extremely difficult to read.
I have checked and there seems to be countless reviews pointing out the fact that the Touhou characters are pretty much presented as being weak to an astonishingly annoying level. And I have to agree, I understand having a lot of the characters from Touhou be weak so the DC characters can actually fight with them, such as Kogasa for example, but when you make Flandre seem like an absolute pushover, who despite having the ability to literally one-shot KO anything, be defeated, and Yuugi, arguably the strongest physical-strength based character seem like a wimp, then there is something definitely wrong with the power scaling.

I have read a review from a user which pointed out an author's note later on in this story, the reviewer made references to that fact that it would seem that the Author heavily favors the DC universe. I am not sure if this is true, but it definitely does seem like it so far.

The reason why so many have a problem with it, is that Touhou is famously known for having characters that can literally DESTROY most other fandoms/universes, INCLUDING the DC universe. Most users expect to read a crossover where the Touhou characters decimate the characters, some may even seek out Touhou crossovers exclusively for this purpose. There was no indication in the first chapter that all of the characters from Touhou were going to be nerfed into and like hell. If the author expects all of their readers to come from previous fanfictions linked to this ongoing Touhou cast, then that's just silly.

I know this fanfiction is from 2014, and that the author has probably received countless of the same reviews complaining about the shoddy power scaling, but I just wanted to rant because I was a bit bored, that being said, have a nice day.

Have to say the power level talk is annoying, si i'll try to appease people with this. Touhou power levels are a bunch of nonsensical bullshit where nothing make no sense whatsoever. In lolk, where Junko's power was stated able to purify so much it allow her to create nameless gods, who are omnipresents, omniscients, and boundless. Out of nothing. Without drawbacks. The only comparaison to the nameless gods i see is Yogh-Sogoth, from Cthulu Mythos, as he is only a single step behind Azazoth, who is true omnipotent/infinite. And Junko can spam this shit. And Sagume scale to Junko. And Hecatia is far beyond that. No. It doesn't work, no matter how you look at it, you can't get anything out of that, execpt bullshit. You can't write something good out of that. But excluding the Touhou that broke difficulty and power levels, Sakuya can create and destroy timelines as she please, seeing how she can summon another her out of nowhere(totaly not D4C on steroids). And she also can erase time and control space, to seemingly limitless level(people tend to forgot she can do that). And since she was stated to match Reimu if both used their full power, then this also mean Sakuya can beat Shinki, who created Makai, wich is canonicaly an infinite dimension. Wich put Reimu and Sakuya at least at higth-multiversal power. And that's not counting if Reimu destroying Sariel's soul in HRtP make her that powerfull at this time, since Sariel should be comparable to Shinki. Or if Sariel's soul/true form could be comparable to a nameless god, meaning Reimu and Sakuya would be outerversal. Wich doesn't work, because an outerversal being is above space and time, meaning Sakuya shouldn't be able to make Reimu stop in her time stop. But Sakuya's time stop works on Reimu during Fantasy Nature, wich makes Reimu invincible against everything by floating above reality, wich is constitued of space and time. So Sakuya can stop time that doesn't exist or is in a completely different reality than her. What. And Yukari, the Watatsuki sister, Yuuka, and Shiki Eiki all scale above that. You can't describe in a way they would use their full power in a crossover because it break things way too much. You need to nerf or scale characters in crossover for the sake of storytelling, unless you do things like the Cthulu having to babysitt Clownpiece. Because that's obviously comedy that want to be funny, or something someone wrote while drunk. Other examples of having to scale/nerf characters in crossover for storytelling/fanservice is like that one time Toei did a crossover between DB, OP, and Toriko. Of course DB characters are stronger, but it wouldn't be funny if Goku just one-shotted Luffy and Toriko, before also one-shotting the villain. It would be boring. You don't want a borring story i guess, so imagine if figths in Touhou crossover were all "Reimu used Fantasy Nature and killed all the bad guys", or " and then Sakuya erased Over Heaven DIO's present and future, ending his reign over existence". It wouldn't be interesting. It would be very boring.

Wow a lot of people complaining that a random bunch of super powered anime girls from a outlier based fiction are being outmatched by the pioneers of superhero fiction from the oldest modern day fiction medium since disney. Every character in touhou should lose to the big dog heroes and even c listers, they are all supreme beings that police the universe and earth from eldtric abominations and God like beings every story arc and hardly anything touhou does has been a side convention for characters older than anime itself. Not even yukari can beat superman, he's basically a plot device power via super speed and strength.

People complain way to much, this is like how people complain about Dante beating and curbstomping every enemy in crossover fanfiction. Anyway the touhou verse is not in DC league, every over the top power in that series as been topped by heroes like green lantern and possibly the flash family, even Reimu herself is insignificant with fantasy heaven compared to wally west who's faster than death itself!

Holy shit, the level of Nerfing on the Touhou characters here is just, Staggering..
I know this level of Nerfing is a thing in the Animated show of the Justice league, where Superman gets weakened after just getting hit by only two cars - So sorry for my rudeness but this was just taking the piss. There should be a limit on how Nerfed these characters can get.
