I personally don’t see this as a romance. Artemus doesn’t know the definition of love. Percy loves her, but she is a greedy bitch that is only using him for what he does for her. The book says she loves him but her actions clearly say otherwise.
Percy just seemed a sad pathetic husk of his canon self. Content with his unneeded suffering. Had no interest in percy really, he was too pathetic.
I liked the plot but I really struggled to get to the end. Percy and Artemus were just to unlikable and frustrating for me. Thalia usually annoys me as a character because she is typically written as violent if caring towards Percy. But she was actually my favorite character here. She seemed the most alive and real even if she didn’t get much screen time.
