Reviews for The Sand Fair
Guest chapter 1 . 1/4/2017
Beautiful. I'll just pretend this is cannon. Thank you.
Eryniel Alasse chapter 1 . 5/3/2016
This is a very pleasant – and so far as I can tell, canon-compliant – interpretation of Shmi's story after Anakin left. I particularly enjoyed how you characterized Cleigg and his generosity in freeing a woman he barely knew, just because it was the right thing to do. Thank you for this little gem! ;)
UnknownFigment chapter 1 . 2/24/2014
Lovely story, and a very nice look into Owen's past.
21stseventeen chapter 1 . 3/24/2013
This was just lovely. Like, amazing. I'm just awed, and you're simply great.
Stay awesome :)
JediNic chapter 1 . 7/27/2012
This brought tears to my eyes. It fits perfectly with canon and it's so hopeful (while knowing it ended so tragically).
shieldmaiden19 chapter 1 . 5/6/2012
I really liked that last line of Cliegg's: "I wouldn't have had to..." It really packed a lot more meaning into this story.
gamingbookworm chapter 1 . 3/17/2012
Nicely fleshes out these characters. They always seemed so cold in the movies to me but this lends a whole new perspective I never considered; they did free a slave, after all.
Gwinna chapter 1 . 3/19/2011
Great story. I like how you tied together little details and hinted-at things from the movies like Shmi not wanting to sell Threepio, Watto's gambling, the fact that Cliegg must have lost his wife and Owen his mother; it feels like the story grew organically from the movies. I like that the three meet because of a random act of kindness on Owen's part. I like that they are drawn to each other because they are all missing someone, and there's the feeling that maybe together they can form a whole family again. It's heartwarming in an understated way, and if Shmi had to die, I'm glad at least that she got to spend her final years among a loving family.
wild wolf free17 chapter 1 . 12/29/2009
Perfect.
D.J.A chapter 1 . 6/25/2009
That's really sweet and well-written. Shmi and Cliegg's marriage is an understated and often overlooked element of the prequel trilogy, but (in my opinion at least) one of its better romantic aspects and deserves more attention. Less flashy than Anakin and Padme, but well-grounded.

Good character dynamics and interaction. Owen is younger and less stodgy but recognizably himself. The quiet loneliness of all the characters is palpable, and you show well how they naturally connect and start to fill out each other's missing pieces.
WolfCipher7 chapter 1 . 4/9/2008
Wow, this was amazing!
Kelev chapter 1 . 3/9/2008
Aw! What a great story! I can see this actually playing out, and I like how Owen seems so...well, boyish here. After all, he was a child once too. LOL It's just hard to remember that when one sees him as an adult farmer. Hope you write more like this, I always liked Shmi's character.
Laureline chapter 1 . 7/9/2007
Lovely story, and it's nice to read about Schmi and her life after Anakin left.
cornu chapter 1 . 6/6/2005
I love this! I've always been interested in the dynamic between Owen and his father, and in the details about their life on the moisture farm. This story is so simple and nice. It brings warm feelings to my heart. Excellent job.
Kathryn Merlin chapter 1 . 6/3/2005
