When Haru denied Makoto with running away, I thought in my head Haru turning away and saying, " I'm sorry Makoto, it's for the mackerel." XDDD

I love Rinharu, but my god is Rin frustrating in this! Just listen what Haru has to say for god's sake! Arg!

That does give me an idea though... Rin should have Ai give Haru a mild narcotic, get him somewhat drunk, or drug him with something like sodium thiopental (Something that'll make the ever stoic Haru talk). He can then have Ai chat with Haru (aka, stealthily interrogate him) while he hides behind a curtain or something to listen in and find out where Haru's heart truly lies.

Then Haru can babble on about how Makoto was kind but just didn't understand that he didn't want to leave! That he desires only Rin but hates the lack of trust and that even if he loves Rin (and he doesn't know what love really is) he'll only ever be a slave to him.

That's just an idea though. I really hate when characters won't listen or communicate with one another... Especially when they assume non-existent motives. It makes me so frustrated!

Bonus points if somehow Makoto gets to hear this too and feels guilty for not believing Haru when he said he didn't want to go, and somehow manages to escape after overhearing... or is stealthily let go by Rin who feels guilty himself for his mistrust.

Actually, I like that last image. I can imagine Rin being all cocky and pleased by Haru's confession, and meeting a rather shell shocked Makoto (shell shocked by a combination of happiness that Haru loves/cares for him as a friend and sadness that his romantic love belongs to another). Rin would yell out that he saw Makato "running towards the east corridor" while staring at Makoto who then bolts down the west one.
