I loved the interplay between the emperors. Weak country Hongnan/Kounan's puppet boy Emperor Saihi talked down to take a marriage proposal, presented with the contempt of being so ineffective to avert this [deal] thrown at his face. Kutou's Emperor was strangely very detached with the fate of his children. Even his beloved daughter, Shukushun.
It's a lovely and reasonable segue.. kinda got the feel how he will come to be devoted to a woman he just felt shared pity and empathy for.
Yuri seemed Ok. Since in a toxic environ much like lotus in the mire.

I've always believed that hotohori always got the short end of the stick.. no matter what the event. Miaka ditching his eternal love for her. His mother's distant way showing love toward him by presenting him as a puppet. Then his foolish ani doing the rebel stunt to get houki. why was the world shortchanging him forever.
I like the premise. Even an abused OC is better than miaka and Yui. Self-centered brats that they are. Always moaning about 'ME! ME! ME!' to no end in avail.
Thank god, Boushin is the nephew, being Houki and Tendou's child as it should've been.
Cherry blossoms have been portrayed as negative or pragmatic emblem of the samurai... glorified, eulogised. In the Tom Cruise movie 'The Last Samurai', Ken Watanabe dialogues "Like these blossoms... we are all dying." 'to be like cherry blossoms and fall at the pinnacle of perfection'
but yuri seems to have more trauma.
At least he got love solely for himself it seems. Even the melancholy is a celebration of the joy felt at the love he got and gave, it seems.

Wow. Congratulations for finishing such a wonderful story. Again, Hotohori's devotion to Yuri is admirable. I also like how you made them actors in their second life, and I could just imagine him and Yuri being happy at finally living the life they always wanted.

I am still overwhelmed by multiple emotions, so I know this review will probably sound like nonsense haha, but I really just want to say that you write very well and if ever you write spinoffs/one-shots related to this story, I will be looking forward to reading it. I'm really glad that I took a chance on your fic!

I am still drowning in sadness at Yuri's death so I know this review will probably not make sense. I just want to say that you're an amazing writer, these 2 chapters are so full of emotions and I am really just speechless right now. I pity Hotohori because he truly loved Yuri. And I also admire Yuri's maids for being so loyal. I cried for Yuri and wished that she and Hotohori had been happier longer... :'(

I am simply overwhelmed by the love between Hotohori and Yuri. I feel sad for the both of them because of the circumstances that makes their relationship complicated. I admire Yuri's gentle strength and selflessness. I look forward to the next chapters!

This is a very great story, and one of the best in my opinion. As much as I loved Houki as an individual character, I felt as if there was always a certain thing missing for her to be "The One" for Hotohori...which is why I like HotohorixOC better.

Anyway, would it be too imposing of me to ask for an Epilogue in which a reincarnation of the Suzaku Seven (specifically Yuri and Hotohori) would meet in Miyaka's timeline and world? It's like the one you did in your other story of Hotohori and Yuri, but I was thinking more on the lines of something like Inuyasha.
