Oh wow...Can you imagine if the movie had gone this dark?! (it'd have been a thing of glory!) That would've changed a whole lot of dynamics and such. Phew.

You wrote his defending into madness so beautifully. I could feel everything Loki did - and even some of Thor's, though Loki's memories. Poor guys!
